Basically, from what I've heard, Aimee has been touring around, mostly the east coast, playing clubs 'n such. Usually acoustic sets, with or without other members of 'Til Tuesday. She's released nothing of her own since _Everything's Different Now_, though she's appeared on a few albums as a guest vocalist (f'rinstance, she's sings a duet with Geddy Lee on Rush's...um..._Hold Your Fire_, I think, album). I've never actually seen her perform, but she does seem to come to the DC area at least a few times a year (I never seem to have any money when she's here). I've heard good things about her shows, though. ObHappy: a friend up at Hampshire College sent me e-mail saying he'd found _Equipoise_ but wanted a description of the tracks before dropping $18 on it. I wrote back with the requested info, as well as the hint that $18 was way out of line when he could get an autographed copy from Happy for $16 delivered. I hope I'll have the chance to check some of them out on my grand-grad-school-tour! The reason I was asking about where I could find Happy in those towns is because I only had Ecto, Warpaint, and Equipoise. Ok, see, I work in a record store in Champaign, IL. When the time came that I was too tempted by all the Happy talk and just had to get my hands on some, I went to Rose Records (not where I work) by suggestion of Vickie. (Thanks Vickie!) Anyway, I ordered Ecto and Warpaint. They arrived in about 2.5 weeks, which, for retail, is not bad at all. It was only when I talked with one of my managers about Happy that he checked the computer and saw that we could order them too. So I ordered I, and II and Rearmament from the store where I work. Two and a half MONTHS later (yesterday) I was tired of waiting and decided to go back to Rose (no employee discount there). So I told my manager to cancel my orders especially since my last day of work was today. I went back up to the front counter to work on checking in a stack of special orders, and I noticed that on the top of this huge pile were my HAPPY CD's!!!! Totally made my day. So anyway, I ripped open Rearmament and put it in the CD player. Every time I put in a Happy disc, at least 3 people ask about who is playing. This one woman came up and asked about it and I told her not to order it from us but to write to Aural Grat. She asked for the address and I wrote it down for her as well as a list of all of Happy's CD's. She wanted the phone# but I didn't know it. But she left so excited she was going to call and order some that day! Man, I love it when stuff like that happens! Unfortunately, I haven't had much of a chance to listen to them all more than once yet, but the song that stopped me dead in my tracks as I fiddled around my apartment was "Possessed". WHOAAA!!!! Anyway, enough blathering. Until next time, Julianne ======================================================================== From: sae@cmpsci.suffolk.edu (Alan Ezust) Date: Sun, 21 Feb 1993 23:16:56 EST Subject: booklet There is a sticker on the Equipoise box I got saying that the CD-insert I have may be a "botched print job"... Now I can't imagine how I should ever live without Equipoise. BTW, Klaus has ordered the CD for me and asked Happy to sign it without asking me before! Call it ectopathy - or telepoise :-) I only can second Klaus' review. My favorites are He Will Come, The Flight (I would chose this one for a single release), Mother Sea, and I Say. There is no song that I really don't like. > When "Cohabitants" was running (sorry, I don't hear anything which sounds > german, it must be an alien sound) Claudia remarked what a nice, little I couldn't find anything, either. If you mean these alien sounds: hey - does speaking German really sound so strange??? ;-) > After so many "ups" my first "down": I don't like the bagpipes in > "Out like a lamb". Musically they seem out of place in that song for me, > which is unusual, because so far I thought that the instrumentation was > always perfect. I like the bagpipes, but I don't know why they put this instrumental section at the end of the song and separated it from the song. I hate the trumpet in Save Our Souls. It sounds too synthesized (they should have taken a real trumpet) and mars the athmosphere of the song, and I don't like the melody it plays, either. Talking about synthesized sounds, I don't like the programmed drums, especially in Runners. The fact that the hihat is recorded much too low makes them sound more static and lifeless. But there are too many wonderful moments on the album that these trifles are of no consequence. By now I'm having some problems with the lyrics and I'm waiting for your interpretations (who's the master in Runners, who is Gabrielle etc. etc.) Dirk (waiting for The Seventh One - with real drums) ---------------------------------- eyo-oh-eyo-oh-aah......... ======================================================================== From: "Michael Blackmore" Date: 22 Feb 93 10:03:14 EST Subject: Re: equipoise alert! It isn't their fault if Happy sells faster than they >can restock! :) Now hold there baba-boy! Are you implying that Tower has been regularly selling out of Happy's stuff? Well, in the spirit of Oliver Stone's JFK, I offer an alternative theory henceforth known as "HappyGate". Theory: This theory purports that Boston area record stores really only have one set of Happy CDs that they shift randomly throughout the metro area! Motive: To lull Happy fans into a false sense of belief that they are doing their part to sell our beloved Happy's music. Thus preventing us from rioting outside their stores and disrupting their businesses. Evidence: 1) Why is it that when Angelos goes into Tower Cambridge he sees Happy CDs, but when I go there I see nothing! But I see them in Discount Records Cambridge? 2) Why does Tower Boston list Happy as Alternative, but Tower Cambridge lists her as Pop/Rock? 3) Why did George Bush really pardon Weinberger was it Iran- Contra or the fact that he owns stock in Tower Records? 4) Why didn't Bill Clinton play Happy's music at his inauguration celebration? 5) How could a Happy CD crash through two bodies, hit multiple large bones and still be pristine and playable afterwards? These are just some of the many questions that have arisen that will be investigated on both next week's Current Affair and Geraldo! Next Week on Conspiracy Weekly: CrayolaGate How the Crayola Crayon Company has silenced the media and critics through intimidation and murder! All to cover up the fact that the 64 pack of crayons only really has 63 colors (two are the same color!) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) On a less silly note.
