Date: Mon, 15 Feb 1993 01:44:36 +0800 (WST) Well well.... Vickie, our angel herself, totally surprised me this evening with an out-of-the--warm-fuzzy-blue phone call to play me an Equipoise track! :) :) :) She asked me which song I'd like to hear... I randomly picked track number five and thus got to hear "Save Our Souls" being played on a CD player on the other side of the world. :) Even so, I liked it... I even managed to tape some of it on my answering machine! How's that for lo-fi? Thank you Vickie! Now, of course, I shall be even more expectant of my coming Equipoise.. :( :) Re: Doctor Who women Whatever it is that makes Mitch tick psychosexually must affect me too: Leela was my favourite Dr. Who woman too... though mostly for reasons to do with my burgeoning adolescent hormones rather than any appreciation of her acting ability. :) It may be significant, however, that almost every girlfriend I've ever had since has looked a lot like Nyssa. Speaking of Mitch, has anyone else noticed his "subjective sense" getting a lot of action lately? :) :) Can someone with all the digests on-line do a quick grep of them for me? I can remember watching from the very first Doctor's onward. There was a time in my house when our folks banned us from watching Dr Who since it was too scary and gave us nightmares :-) My favorite is Tom Baker, and for an assistant it had to be Leela. Anyway, last week I got to see a NEW Tom Baker Dr Who that had never been normally sceen before. It was the famous 'missing' episode written by Douglas Adams called 'Shada'. It was only ever half filmed and so Tom Baker narrated to missing bits (boy is he looking old now) ======================================================================== Graham Dombkins GRAHAM.G.R.DOMBKINS@BHPMELMSM.BHP.bhpmel04.telememo.au ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Hello Earth!! hello Earth..." - KT "I'm out chasing nuns in the yard..." - TA Space for undecided Happy quote. - HR ======================================================================== ======================================================================== Date: Mon, 15 Feb 1993 14:10:55 +1000 From: GRAHAM.G.R.DOMBKINS@bhpmelmsm.bhp.bhpmel04.telememo.au Subject: Aussiephiles I tried to send off something about this yesterday BUT it bounced along with EVERYTHING else (bunyip at UQ was down). So maybe we're pomegranates rather than spuds. >Of course, both 'pomegranate' and 'pomme' derive from Latin 'pomum', >an apple. Thanks Steve, I've been trying to remember the origin of the word and just couldn't remember to 'immigrant' part. I think you'll find it goes like this... About the mid 1800 when British folk started to come here in of there own accord in great numbers they were quite rightly called 'immigrants'. Now we have a lot of language querks here in Oz and one of them at that time was never call a spade a spade (you know ryhming slang). So 'immigrant' become 'pomegranate' (they sort of sound the same). The next thing we do in our speach is to run all our words together and then sorten the whole thing. Thus 'pomegranate' becomes 'pommy' becomes 'pom'. Neat hey. ======================================================================== Graham Dombkins GRAHAM.G.R.DOMBKINS@BHPMELMSM.BHP.bhpmel04.telememo.au ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Hello Earth!! hello Earth..." - KT "I'm out chasing nuns in the yard..." - TA Space for undecided Happy quote. - HR ======================================================================== ======================================================================== Subject: Today's your birthday friend....
