It reminded me of why ecto is so special and Happy so cool. In other news, got the new Eurythmics Live CDs yesterday and I am a bit disappointed. They advertise it as two hours of live music, and it's about 107 minutes, they didn't include the bonus EP with the acoustic medley that is out in the UK, and the booklet has no info whatsoever except when the songs were recorded and the list of musicians (without saying who played where). A sloppy job. But the quality of some tracks is redeeming. The live version of 'Here comes the rain again' is simply breathtaking. Now where can I find the Arista phone number to complain about the false advertising? Copperman Subject: S. Fingerett, knocking Nightmares So what's a Blossom (in the TV sense, of course)? Tim Cook - I really like Sally Fingerett's albums. I haven't heard anything of the new one, but I have the first two, although I can't seem to come up with titles. I picked up #1 (something like enclosed) about 5 months ago and was really impressed with how strong it was. She blew me away at one of the Bitchin' Babes concerts with her deep and incredibly emotional voice. SHe writes these vignettes that are really moving. What album were you listening to? I saw Adam's Family Values over Thanksgiving, and thought it was hilarious. Don't know why the reviews have been mediocre, or why people expect this or the previous movie to have much of a plot. Gees, they are based on single panel comics, sort of predecessors of the Far SIde. (There's an interesting idea, a Far Side movie). Since I'm the only poster I've seen knocking Nightmare Before Christmas, I may as well add that this movie had what I felt that one lacked, a really twisted take on reality. The Adam's Family spirit would have served Nightmare very well. I'm getting set for my 3 night stay at the Belly Up Tavern - Kirsty MacColl tonight, Mazzy Star tomorrow, and Aimee Mann (yay!!) on Friday. That looked a bit more encouraging--though it's still odd that Tribe isn't headlining. And it's also odd that the show is FREE! Hey, not that I'm complaining. (unless it means that it'll be too crowded to get in...) I plan on going to the show, too... I think Erik mentioned a few digests back that he still had yet to hear Tribe. I suggest looking in the used CD bins, as all of the major Bay Area used CD stores I've been in recently have been selling 'Sleeper' (as a cut-out) for $2-$4. I think I got mine for $1.95. :) I imagine the CD would be going for considerably more if the album cover wasn't so ugly....hmmm.... The cover for "Abort", which I just recently picked up, is so much nicer. The Canadian one will be spelt "disc" with a C. :) I've heard dates around next January for the US release. When _Touch_ was released in the US it came out with a different cover and an extra song or two. _Solace_ also came out with an extra song. When Tribe used to play the clubs here in Boston regularly, they put on a fantastic live show. I miss them, but am glad they're touring nationally. They need the exposure. I usually don't butt in, but maybe this time is appropriate as I'm a big Happy fan, but also an unashamed pop goonie. Eleanor is a great song writer. Her music is pop-style or perhaps it dances on the edges of pop. Happy fans will find Eleanor McEvoy (no "l" in her last name) to be of equal musical skill, but of poorer voice (with respect to Happy Rhodes). That's as succintly as I can put it. She couldn't say which; she's been too busy to listen to it but promised to at the first opportunity. * The Tribe album "Sleeper" is apparently out in Australia already. I'm puzzled as I never saw it on a release sheet or in a store, but it supposedly was released a month or so back. Talk to you all at greater length tomorrow...! Oh no, you misunderstand. This wasn't an interview, it was just a phone conversation. I would never record our conversations. Only if it was set up and understood in advance to be an interview. Not that it wouldn't make for an interesting tape, but Happy's a friend of mine and I wouldn't ever want to do anything that would possibly cause mistrust on her part. Recording a converstion without her knowledge or consent would probably do it. :) Yeah I know (in case anyone brings it up) that Chris recorded a converstion with Kate many years ago, but it was a one-time-only thing, she was calling to thank him for "The Infant Kiss" and Kate is not a friend (not that that makes me any more comfortable with it.) We rarely play the converstion, and we've *never* allowed anyone to have a dub of it.
