Here are the lyrics where Aural Gratification originated, Some people are into their sadistic pleasures They whet your desires and they drool in your ear They're quasi-effeminate characters in love with Aural Gratification They edify your integrity so they can play with your fears They're going to do it in public Cause they're growing up in public They're going to do it to you in public Cause you're growing up in public With your pants down 'Growing up in Public' - LOU REED I hope this hasn't already made it there... Ezust) Subject: poem: "water" Date: Wed Dec 11 11:57:40 1991 GMT+2 Here's my second happy-inspired poem... she sits herself on the floor in her own particular corner the only sound she can hear is the water dripping at the end of hall her arms are wrapped around her shoulders her hair is dangled over her eyes her clothes are hanging over her body, which haven't been washed in over a week a drop of salt-water on her face is slowly making it's way to a place where love once was, but there no longer and she wonders, will it finish like this? Through the open door, which is quite inviting, I can see the room, deep inside her heart It's soft, safe, and warm, but bitterly empty waiting for some lucky man to move in but the emptiness inside yields neglect the cobwebs grow, the softness hardens the warmpth grows cold, with each passing day the door to the room will soon have to close but remember that water's the restorer of life, some day the flood will come with the rains rushing through your entire soul it will push that door open once again the water dripping at the end of the hall is echoing through my head If I could, I'd turn the tap to its fullest, and wash you away -by SAE December 11, 1991 Ezust@p38.f1.n721.z5.fidonet.org University of Zimbabwe, Harare Engineering CAL Project --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ======================================================================== From: vickie@chinet.chi.il.us (Vickie Ann Mapes) Subject: 4AD Date: Thu, 12 Dec 91 3:48:56 CST Vickie here. I forgot to say that I did ask Kevin about 4AD woj, and he said that it had crossed his mind, but no, he hadn't sent anything. I doubt he will either. Personally, I think that 4AD would be a pretty good place to go. Happy's certainly better than Heidi Berry, their most recent attempt to switch gears and aim for the upscale, yupper echelon audience. What a coincidence, I ask about Jeanne, and there she is...there she goes... :-( Come back soon Jeanne! I sent the "Addresses" post through katefans because I couldn't get through to the vickie account (they are accessible through different phone numbers) and I wanted to get it mailed asap, but I forgot to say that it would be best for people to mail me at this vickie (vickie@chinet.chi.il.us) address instead of katefans. It *doesn't* matter if anyone has already sent their address to katefans, I'll still get it. But I try to keep my ecto mail separate from katefans, because it's easier to keep track of. Barry, I asked Happy a *long* time ago about a "Happy-The Early Years" tape. No go. Uh uh. Absolutely no way. Forget it. So on and so forth... We need to find Happy's old pen pal, the one who turned her onto Kate, because she sent him some of her songs, sung into a tape recorder, back when she was 16ish. She's long lost track of him and may not even remember his name. Can you imagine this guy, walking into a store someday and seeing a Happy Rhodes display and going home to frantically dig through his stuff to see if he still has her tapes? Can you see a scenerio of him losing touch with her, years going by and him finally taping over her songs with something else? Ahhhhh! Well, he was a Kate fan, so maybe he recognized the raw talent and kept them. That's the *only* way we'll ever hear any of her pre-Vol I stuff. I have to tell you all something. Jon Drukman and I recently started corresponding again. Someone had sent him one of my early days Ecto posts where I talked about him and his review, and he wanted to discuss some points in my post. He has no ftp access, but has an unnamed friend who does. She (he said "she") is mainly looking through the archives for hints that I lied when I said there are no flame wars in ecto. I asked him if that is what she is doing and he confirmed it. I don't mind, I think it's somewhat amusing. As I told Jessica, Ecto can withstand any microscope. Anyway, the archives stop at August. In our conversations I had told Jon that I reposted his review. He was curious about the response, so I put together a file and sent it to him. I wanted to be as up-front and honest with him as possible. I wanted to let you all know, in case he says anything at any time, it wouldn't come as a complete suprise to anyone. Jon and I get along great now, so I wasn't going to say, no, I won't send you anything and you can't get them from the archives because they don't exist, nyah, nyah....so that's why I did it. That's it, see you later... Vickie ps, Dan the St. Paul man, I'm sorry I called you "Jim" in my Info bits post. I got it right later, but forgot to change the first mention. pps, Cathy, Happy's never played in Minneapolis. I don't think she's ever been west of Troy, NY. She's only ever played live in the Albany area. ppps, Kiri, Mouth Music and Lisa Germano played at Schubas. Can't wait to see you again! ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 11 Dec 91 23:10 CST From: katefans@chinet.chi.il.us (Chris n Vickie) Subject: I NEED YOUR ADDRESSES ASAP PLEASE ****** TIME SENSITIVE POST...READ NOW ****** Vickie here. Kevin asked me to provide him with a mailing list of all Ectophiles. He didn't say why, but I imagine that if they do a mailing for the tour Ectophiles will be the first ones on the list. He said he was in a big hurry to get them, within a couple of days, so I also suspect that H&K may be sending out Christmas cards. Don't quote me, and don't be disappointed if that's not the case, but he did want them right away and that's the only reason I can think of for the rush. The list will not be made public, and we won't sell it to Publisher's Clearing House :-) so don't worry about that. These are the addresses I have on file...
