HGP ======================================================================== From: kyrlidis@athena.mit.edu Subject: Re: Info Bits Date: Tue, 10 Dec 91 13:17:30 EST Hi, Vickie's last post made my day. Before I forget...Mitch should add 'THE FUNNY FARM amusement park or resort' in his list of Happy projects. She writes: >Kevin confirmed, "Aural Gratification" was stolen from a DJ he was listening >to one night. If that DJ got the phrase from the Lou Reed song, then yes, it >indirectly came from there. We'll never know for sure though. I knew it!!! As soon as I go home I'll transcribe the lyrics to the song and post them for the Ecto-records. >H&K are not religious, but come from a Christian background and do celebrate >"Christmas" OK, so they will not get offended by the Xmas card I sent them with a photocopy of my DID's from PULSE!. I haven't had the chance to get extra copies. Does anybody WANT any copies?? I am thinking of writing them a follow-up letter thanking them for publishing them and giving them the scoop on who Happy is. Or somebody could write them and say how excited they were to see Happy 's name in PULSE! and go on with the details... > Boston (WFNX, which Kevin says will >be the toughest nut to crack, but he's going to give it a try. Boston area >Ectophiles, be on alert. I'll get more info on what Kevin has in mind) Well I have some ideas for Boston... They should try to play NIGHTSTAGE. It's supposed to be a great place! I hate to admit that I haven't seen a concert there...but that's what I have heard. Of course I am sure that with 3 MIT ectophiles, we could try to get LSC (Lectures series committee) interested, and get a place on campus for a Happy concert. I am not involved in these issues but maybe David is. Another option is getting Happy promoted through HMV. They sponsor live music happenings at their superstore, and I think it would be great to have Happy featured there. And for the nth time, Juanita the scene queen has bands live in the studio for her Boston Rocks! show, and is an ideal medium for exposure. Of course an Ad in the Phoenics wouldn;t hurt. Or in PULSE!! Any ideas from other bostonian ectophiles (Greg?) I somehow deleted the message from Vickie with tons o' information about Sesame Street, keyboard players, The Tour, etc. Can someone send it to me, or is it archived somewhere? I happened to catch my name mentioned a couple of times, once in reference to Feed the Fire on KTCZ and once in reference to Mpls venues for Happy. That KTCZ thing: I've called a couple of times requesting Feed the Fire. They do seem to be playing it quite a bit -- I heard it the other day while doing my sit-ups and on Sunday as I was scrubbing my bathroom floor. Certainly made my cleaning tasks a bit more tolerable... Mpls venues: Did Happy already perform at the Cedar Cultural Center? I thought I saw that somewhere -- seems like a rather odd place for her to be -- does anyone know how the performance went over with the crowd? This all happened in August before I knew who Happy was, so I wasn't in attendance. What sort of help/support can I give for the Mpls stop on the tour? Not much more to add -- no wait, one more thing. I've *really* been enjoying all the discussions about the different artists you all listen to. I should be taking a trip to the local record shop any day now armed with a list of suggestions from everyone! -- Cathy Guetzlaff Cray Research, Inc. guetzlaf@cray.com ======================================================================== From: guetzlaf@gravity.cray.com (Cathy Guetzlaff) Subject: My request got filled! Boston area Ectophiles, be on alert. I'll get more info on what Kevin has in mind). For the Denver area, they should definitely try KTCL (Boulder/Fort Collins) which may be an easier nut to crack than KBCO. (Neither will be easy!) Admittedly, I haven't listened to KBCO recently, and since Denver radio stations change every day, maybe they've shifted a bit. Let me know when I should keep my ear open! Date: Tue, 10 Dec 91 14:16:17 EST From: jeffy@lewhoosh.umd.edu I hope I'm not to late! I hadn't given much thought to the HGP 'cause I'd never be able to think of a single song to send and I've been too busy lately to think about anything, and I still haven't managed to actually get a tape for SiG to Vickie, what makes me think I can get TWO to her?, etc, etc. Walking from work toward lunch, I passed a shipping store and realized that yes, indeedy, I had money in my pocket and should rush in and buy something in which to mail tapes before I forget again. Standing in line to order the aforementioned lunch, I realized the one song I'd love to send to Happy. The song'll be recorded and both tapes packaged up tonight, but they won't get mailed 'til tomorrow. They're definitely on their way, though. Oh. My song? I don't have the exact time, but it should be under 5:00. I'm sending "The Fisherman's Song" from Carly Simon's latest album, _Have You Seen Me Lately?_ Jeff |Jeffrey C. However, I do have a few friends in the MIT Office of the Arts that I could ask. If AG is interested in more info about MIT, the can feel free to get in touch with me (and provide more info like when they they will be in this area!) Hi! Well, in the mail today I got my very own personally autographed complimentary copy of _Warpaint_, accompanied by a nice note from Kevin thanking me for my support. Yay!!! Vickie, thanks for thinking of me and posting the tour manager's name. I'm dragging Valerie Nozick in on this (who, btw, STILL hasn't subscribed to Ecto- Jessica, is it possible to subscribe someone by proxy? I'm serious here), and, since she has experience in dealing with student groups and organizing things, we just might be able to get Happy an opportunity to play here, if all goes well. WESU should get its copy of _Warpaint_ tomorrow, and I got the Music Director's promise that it'll be in the New Release rack next week. I'll make sure it stays there and gets attention, too! :> Any of you in the Hartford/Springfield area or even planning on passing through? I'll send you the number to call for requests and times of day to do it (calling up and asking for "Feed The Fire" during the Subway to Skaville show would probably be a waste of time :).
