Re: Bjork Songbook Hey Kday Re: Bjork Songbook whee ======================================================================== Date: Fri, 30 Jul 1993 23:04:54 -0400 (EDT) From: Suspended In Duct Tape Subject: Bad attitudes Hi! kiri confesses: }For some reason I could never get into Sandman, after reading }one issue during a really bad time. Anyway if anyone would }like my No. 39, i'm willing to give, trade....whatever, if }anyone is interested email me and i'll be happy to pass it on to }someone who can appreciate it. Hmm... #39 is one of my all-time favorite issues. But certainly not representative of the series as a whole- it's just a short story. Check out one of the extended storylines, maybe you'll get a different impression (maybe not the current one, though- it's also just a collection of short stories, but unlike the Sandman Convergence of #38-40, this is leading up to something). }Court came running over with a large book, she was practically }bubbling out of her skin. When I looked at it I nearly jumped }out of my skin too, it was The Hound and the Falcon trilogy in }one complete volume. Isn't it great? They really did a good job with it. (It's been reissued in Tor's Orb line.) }Yummmm.... If you haven't read any Judith Tarr I urge you to go }out and get this....it's brilliant!! *yippie* For those who }have, run, fly do whatever is necessary to get it, cause if you }were like me and Court, having read the libraries copies, and }then only able to find the first book The Isle of Glass, and for }some reason never being able to find the last two (if i'm not }mistaken the whole trilogy was out of print??), you'll want }this! Wow, nice run-on sentence :) Yes, the whole trilogy was out of print, and there were enough people in your exact situation that a reissue was deemed necessary. Everyone involved is quite happy with the way the omnibus edition came out. woj wojes: }but i can say that i was utterly unimpressed by four non }blondes. it's your basic, average rock'n'roll and so what if }it's four women playing instead of four men? Yeah, that's my take on it too. I've only listened to my dub of the album three times, and I don't see myself listening to it again. On the other side I have A Man Called E, which I couldn't even get all the way through once. Talk about your dud tape trades... :} }nope. (my, i'm being negative today... :) What can you expect from a music critic with a bad attitude? You sure don't like a lot for someone who is so proud of saying that he has no clue what he doesn't like. ;) And before I let the product of a Day From Hell bleed into my net.persona, I shall dutifully sign off and go to sleep. Date: Sat, 31 Jul 1993 15:52:10 +1000 (EST) I just uuencoded a picture of me so that Christine would be able to recognise me, and I realised that lots of other people (Neal, Vickie, Jeanne, Greg, Woj, Bob etc etc) might wish to see it as well. It's not very big (about 10K) so I thought I'd post it to ecto. Hope that's OK. It's only 170 or so lines ... that's smaller than a Klaus isn't it ;). Especially now that you know the language and all :) Seriously, I just thought I'd mention that I'm also willing to accommodate any wandering Ectophiles who'd be crazy enough to drop by in Finland some time. I have a slight problem though, I live in my parents' house but that may change within a year, or perhaps not? Maybe. They don't mind an occasional visitor or two though. Unless they move in permanently? Vickie, shouldn't try and impersonate the normal people! :) For anyone who wants more info about the Bjork Songbook: It has all the pages from the cd-sheet + 4 page-sized pictures of her and the lyrics on 4 pages, all in all 14 pages + the covers. One of the pictures is the same as on the cover of the 12" single of Human Behaviour (I have that one too). The others are nicer though. My favourite is a one where she sits on a chair with a weird haircut holding a 'miniature' sailing-boat. If by any chance I'll be able to scan these pictures at the uni, I'll do it. I never tried out the scanner which they're supposed to have somewhere in the premises though, maybe I'll find it and maybe it even works and maybe I can scan pictures this large with it :) The size of the book is the longer side of an A4-sheet to the power of two. Gotta run now! Stay Happy :) Juha (also in Finland) -- Juha Kannisto O jk101920@cc.tut.fi O I have a friend in Phobos O Savikukonkatu 21 O jk101920@ee.tut.fi O At times I think I'm almost there O 33530 Tampere O jk101920@cs.tut.fi O * Happy Rhodes * O Finland O +358-31-560941 O ~~~~~~~~~~~~ O ======================================================================== Subject: whee Date: Sat, 31 Jul 93 19:58:30 -0400 From: jeffy@syrinx.umd.edu It's nice having another ectophile in town. Beth just loaned me some This Mortal Coil, Trio Bulgarka, Laurie Freelove, Mae Moore, Magnetic Fields, and Rainbirds. I'm going to enjoy this friendship. ;-) (so far, all I've hard is _Smells Like Truth_. Sounds pretty good but not quite what I was expecting. Her vocals are reminiscent of Ferron) I took Beth kiting again today. She got to fly the EctoForm! That was probably its last real flight here in DC though I may fly it from its bridle tomorrow and have Mike take a couple of contingency pictures in case my first ones don't come out. Beth has also started upon the road of becoming a raving stunt kite flyer. Well, I *think* she has. She's certainly enjoying her flying time and I know very few kiters who don't start raving eventually. I'm still accepting donations...Jeff Burka, 2950 Macomb St, NW Washington, DC 20008-3315. Keith, thanks for the check (I would have e-mailed but couldn't find your net.address). Folks who do mail contributions, please include your net.address unless you know for a fact you're someone whose address I already know. I'll send you a confirmation of receipt/thank you. Good luck to Mike on tomorrow's move. Good luck to me--I have to help. ;-) Jeff (just finished rollerblading and now off to scrounge up some dinner before working on an experimental soccerball drogue for Happy's kite to decide whether I want hers to have a 3" or 4" edge) |Jeffrey C.
