Live! In London! (etc) Hi, a belated missive to say that I finally got to see Dar Williams live last week, at Dingwall's in Camden. she was pretty good -- a really very funny person, her voice -- i thought -- sounded a bit wobbly at first, but just got stronger and stronger as she went on. There were a lot of songs I wish she'd done ("What Do You Hear..." etc) but her version of "Are You Out There" was worth the price of admission alone. A nice, varied crowd, as well. What did you think, Ellen? The important new, however, is that the INDIGO GIRLS are coming back to LONDON!!! This is the FIRST TIME in SIX YEARS so I'm a little excited and prone to capitalization. Booked tickets for me and my partner and our two daughters, who, over the years, I've managed to turn on to the girls, and who really want to come as well. Hmm...a nice little family outing, really. Who'd have thought it? Rock 'n' roll, eh? adamk n.r.: Pixel Juice, by Jeff Noone --- a collection of short stories. I'm not usually a short story person (apart from Carey and Carver) but these are brilliant. He has a really remarkable way with language that leaves me breathless. Despite all the hype for _24_, Alias is my favorite new show of the season and one of my favorite shows period. Jennifer Garner's character is an amazing combination of sweetness and steel. Thanks though to Greg & Steve, for letting us know about it, though! We are currently trying to place some of Rachael's and other UrbanMuse artists' music in film & tv, & always looking for leads, it's so tough to get anyone to pay attention when you're indie but once in a while they'll actually take your calls/packages :) Any show that plays "This Woman's Work" and encourages references to Zena gets my vote for wirth looking into... Thanks & sorry for the confusion, - -Margo / MPress Records PS - Hi Meredith! Nice to see you at Trina's gig a couple weeks ago. She played on Rachael's record last week, I haven't heard it yet but I think she did harmonica on several tunes which seems like it would be very groovy :) I couldn't get over how awesome that show was at The Living Room... ******************** Margo Wentzien MPress Records Tel: 212-481-7243 Fax: 212-481-1073 www.rachaelsage.com ******************** ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2001 09:20:12 -0600 From: "Amy" Subject: FW: Please help I received this email today. In early February I went on a trip and flew United. The on-board entertainment included a video of four women who play string instruments. Their music reminded me of the fiddlers from Lord of the Dance. I can recall that the women who plays the Cello was Asian. Now, I am sure that the same group is featured in a watch ad, I think for Rolex. I have searched and searched and I cannot find the name of this talented group of women. Can you please help me with the answers I seek? Perhaps even point me to a forum that might help me discover who this group is. I am having little luck. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can lend. I hope my request is not out of line and not to unusual. I will look forward to your response. Sounds an awful lot like Bond, a string quartet of women (along with other instrumentalists playing misc stuff like horns and percussion). Don't know if they're doing Rolex commercials, but it would make sense as the name of the group would have a nice tie-in to Rolex via James Bond. jeff n.p. _Under Towers_, Arson Garden ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2001 14:38:42 -0800 (PST) From: Castergine Subject: Re: Is there a brain in there...? - --- Xenu's Sister wrote: > > Ok, that was funny. When a child misbehaves, an adult responds by being an example. If he had planned to come before, and he doesn't come, I doubt it will make a positive impression on her -- it will just look like he is getting huffy and not showing up -- but if he comes and shows how a mature grownup acts, that will probably leave her with a lasting impression. Her comments about him were as rude as her comments about the firefighters and she should have to deal with him shaking her hand and showing her the courtesy she hasn't learned yet. From everything I've heard, Bush is a very charming, engaging man when you meet him in person.
