I was recently thinking about Happy's dilema of not being able to find a record label. Then I thoght it might be a great idea to promote her to various record labels through e-mail. I have consistantly suggested over the past week that many record labels, such as sony, arista, mercury, A&M, Virgin, etc., sign her. If many, many people kept making this request, the record label would likely eventually want to sign Happy, making her next album available to potential millions. Allright, maybe it's wishful thinking, but it's certainly worth a try! Allright, maybe it's wishful > thinking, but it's certainly worth a try! I believe this came up not long ago. While an admirable idea, it might be good to get Happy's approval of it, to be sure that it doesn't conflict with anything she already has in the works or that it doesn't present problems that we may not have thought of. - -- |> ~The only thing that is not art is inattention~ --- Marcel Duchamp <| | jzitt@metatronpress.com http://www.metatronpress.com/jzitt | | Latest CD: Jerusaklyn http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt | | Comma: Voices of New Music Silence: the John Cage Discussion List | ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Aug 2001 19:14:08 EDT From: ArtfulMdrr@aol.com Subject: Re: Promoting Happy Actually, the A&R departments at most record labels don't really check out the stuff they get through emails. The emails are used for communications they're already expecting, and the rest are skimmed by interns or others who have no real influence at the company. The best thing to do would be for Happy herself to send in a video, and then fans write actual physical letters to the A&R departments at the appropriate labels. Of course, that depends on the labels, and maybe she wouldn't be interested in a label so large that it can't read its emails. Just my two cents, which is about all I've got. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V7 #239 **************************
