When I heard it, I knew I knew the voices from somewhere, and confirmed it by checking liner notes: they sang on Daniel Biro's "The Comparative Anatomy of Angels". And looking at the page, I see that he coproduced the CD. It may be that I come at listening to this from the other side, but I wouldn't call it either experimental or postmodernist. The vocal style I hear as connected with the good old Modernism of the past, taking the enjoyable yet well-tread path of Dagmar Krause and the like some decades ago. And the music in the video (from what I can tell from the muddy transcription) sounds like a somewhat more strident version of, say, "Army Dreamers". But it definitely gets me interested in further listening. - -- |> ~The only thing that is not art is inattention~ --- Marcel Duchamp <| | jzitt@metatronpress.com http://www.metatronpress.com/jzitt | | Latest CD: Jerusaklyn http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt | | Comma: Voices of New Music Silence: the John Cage Discussion List | ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Aug 2001 00:48:15 -0400 From: meredith Subject: ectofest donations Hi, This is for anyone who can't attend ectofest next weekend, but still wants to help RAINN. You can still make a donation to RAINN via ectofest, even if you're not at the event. There are two ways to do this: 1.)Make a check out to RAINN, in whatever amount you choose. Put "Party # 306" in the memo. Send it to: Meredith Tarr 623 Whitney Ave. #2 New Haven, CT 06511 I will forward the check to RAINN along with the other donations collected next weekend. (It's tax-deductible: their taxpayer ID number is 52-1886511.) 2.) Go to http://www.rainn.org/tori to make a credit-card donation online. Enter "306" in the "Party ID #" field (this part is **VERY IMPORTANT**) and your donation in the "donation" field (not the "tickets" field). Just let me know which option you choose, so I know whether to keep an eye on the mail. :) Complete information about RAINN is at http://www.rainn.org. Thanks in advance for any and all donations. RAINN needs all the help they can get! ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org ======================================= ectofest 2001: August 25, 2001 A benefit for RAINN Kenosia Lake Park, Danbury, CT http://www.ectofest.org ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Aug 2001 00:51:39 -0400 From: meredith Subject: ectofest volunteers Hi again, And now, one for those who *are* attending ectofest ... :) We're looking for volunteers to help take tickets and donations at the gate, sell raffle tickets, and sell CDs and stuff at the merchandise table.
