A lot of people feel that her voice sounds like a "drunken cabaret singer" in some songs... others like the change. Honestly, I heard the clips and wasn't blown away so I'm just going to wait for the LP... Sarah's going to be on the Fox show "Murder in Small Town X" (debuts Wednesday, but I'm not sure if she's in the first ep) which is a reality series and there are details on her site, I believe. I'm not sure, however, if Sarah is on. She's supposed to be in the series, but no one has said which episode it will be. The show got sort of bad reviews, so I'm not sure I'll tune in. If anyone she's it and she's on, fill us in on what happens :) jessica www.jessicaweiser.com - new album BECOMING available now! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 19:48:34 -0400 From: /dev/woj Subject: Re: Sarah Slean when we last left our heroes, Jessweiser24@aol.com (Jessweiser24@aol.com) exclaimed: >There's been a LOT of talk on Navy Soup (Sarah's email list) about the >EP... some good and some bad... Honestly, I heard the clips and wasn't blown away so I'm just >going to wait for the LP... i haven't had a chance to spout off about this on navy-soup yet but i can't say that i'm too annoyed by her "new voice". the samples on atlantic-records.com are not particularly well-encoded but they were all i had to go on until this past weekend when we got a chance to hear the ep (jeff wasilko got it last week and we listened to it while going up to maine to see susan werner at l.l. bean's). after hearing it, i was less-enthused about the new songs -- not because of the voice but because of the songs themselves. they just didn't seem to have the spark that her earlier work has. even "sweet ones", which is a song i've heard several times and like. of course, i realize this was just one listen in non-optimal conditions, so i'm taking my opinion with a grain of salt, but hey! so should you all! ;) woj ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 16:25:49 -0700 From: Phil Hudson Subject: They're at it again!
