Thanks for the heads up on this. I hope to catch this show as well. The WBER webcast is actually on Sunday the 20th at 11 pm EDT (not Friday). This is one of a weekly series of live shows recorded exclusively for Universal Buzz Radio. Seems this show is broadcast over the regular airwaves and other webcasts by a whole slew of university radio stations. Click on the "stations" link at http://universalbuzz.com to see if/when it's on in your area. (Hopefully haven't missed it yet!). As far as capturing it, probably best quality to record the broadcast signal. As far as the webcast on Realaudio is concerned, I've never figured out a way to do it digitaly but am able to record the analog signal from the headphone jack. Good enough for Real audio quality eh? Hope this helps, Dave Regarding: Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 15:22:47 -0700 From: Neile Graham Subject: Re: Splashdown concert webcast Someone once mentioned the possibility of capturing this stuff--can anyone do this? Splashdown is no longer, and it would be stunning to have access to a copy of this. - - --Neile At 5:25 PM +0000 5/14/01, DanS wrote: >It looks like WBER is broadcasting a Splashdown concert >that was taped earlier this year, this Friday at 11pm >EDT. Thanks for setting me straight. There was indeed more info than I wanted to know, but surprisingly, not too much more. neal ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2001 20:27:33 EDT From: Dracovixen@aol.com Subject: Jack off Jill and Autour de Lucie Strange subject, I know. :) Just two bands I have been checking out. Can anyone tell me what they think of them? I know they have 3 albums, and a bunch of demos. I know Jack off Jill used to open for Marilyn Manson when it was Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, and did again in 1999. I've heard a few songs of theirs. Good, raucous screaming. :) And some sweet, child-like singing. A lot of morbid subjects and lyrics. Their music is like, sometimes it's no better than some metal thrash band, and then in some songs, they show that they have talent. Good mix. :) Autour de Lucie, I fell in love with the song "Je Reviens", which I know came off of their latest album. I believe they had two albums before that. I've heard them compared to St. Etienne. What do other people think of their music, and what would you compare it to? Black Dove ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2001 17:38:12 -0700 From: Phil Hudson Subject: Ectowest house Concert update: FOUR, Count 'em! FOUR DIVAS!!! That's right folks, Four Divas! Step right up, we have more Divas than you can shake a rainstick at right now: who knew there were so many? Here's the latest: The THREE DIVAS house concert in Boulder Creek on June 10 has been augmented, and is now officially known as "The Four Divas With Large Supporting Cast" This partially accurate title has been determined in part, by the recent inclusion of Petaluma artist Kelly Burk, whose album, Simple Life, showed up in my mailbox recently, along with a confirmation that she will be playing. Kelly's website is under construction, but you can pull down an sample of her work at www.kellyburkmusic.com . Given the location by the redwood groves, we may just rename the show "TREE DIVAS" :) Once again, thanks to Shelly, who hooked up Kelly (!?) The house concert will certainly be a memorable one, not only for the quality of the performers and their work, but also for sheer value-for-money; 8 solid hours of music, dance, general lunacy and more music, from over 8 acts. The original $10 admission has been upgraded to a minimum donation of $10, to encourage those of us with real paying jobs to contribute a little more to the cause. Outside of minimal operating expenses for essentials, (ie: porta-potties, bear traps and signed photographs of Don Ameche) all proceeds will go to the main performers, the local talents are all offering their services for free. A CD-selling table will be staffed by volunteers for the duration of the event: all CD sales $$ also go to their respective artists, so you'll be happy in the knowledge your dollars will go directly to the performers, without even a sniff of middle-men in the picture. The Redwood groves have been trimmed and polished, the gophers have been instructed not to tunnel that afternoon, and we have removed the entire raccoon family from underneath the recording room, discovering, in the process, exactly who stole the Tascam remote control from the studio last month. Now we know why they wear masks! This is going to be a truly wonderful concert, the first, I hope, of many, and a great adjunct to the Ecto Concert at the Kumbwa on the previous night. Imagine; Happy & friends on Saturday, followed by a whole day in the big trees with 8+ hours of Ectophilic Music, high energy, multiple performing witches, rampant paganism, frolicking Faeries, gentle fun, 150' Redwood trees to inspire and shade us, and a big sunny party atmosphere. Plus good food and drink. Potluck meals, BYOB. More fun than humans should be allowed, to quote someone or another. ( Letterman, I think) I'd recommend the house concert to anyone on the list, (with the possible exception of Pat Buchanan,if he's still subscribed) and I hope to see as many folk as we can fit in for the day. We'll probably cap the attendance around 60, if we get that many; please tell a friend! Again please email me if you intend to come; all those who have already RSVP'ed will be receiving directions, etc very soon. "Back to the trees where our art was born" See you there Phil ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V7 #139 **************************
