I like trypnotica a lot, and really like reliquaries, though these preferences may well be based on time spent listening more than anything else. I think my copy of Buzzbomb got lost in my CD shelves with hardly a listen at all. Reliquaries is poppier and less trippy, but I love it. neal np: Ella and Louis - Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Apr 2001 19:36:41 -0400 From: "Hotel America" Subject: Concert Thursday! Hey, everybody... I'm performing tomorrow night (Thursday, April 26th) with my drummer at the Tune Inn, here in New Haven. If you're not doing anything, I'd love for some people to show up and give support. It's a 21+ show, so most of my Yale friends can't come, and I'm sharing the bill with a band called Forth Corpse -- which somehow makes me think most of the people there won't be into my stuff. The music, if you never checked it out before, is piano-based singer/songwriter fare... you can listen at www.mp3.com/chuckcolman. Anyway, the doors open at 8:00 and I go on at 9:00. The Tune Inn is a pretty well established venue -- Sarah Harmer and Bitch and Animal are playing there very soon -- it's downtown on Center Street, between Chapel and Crown. I would love to have people there on the same musical wavelength as me, so if you're not busy, consider stopping by. Thanks! - --Chuck _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Apr 2001 19:48:11 -0400 From: Michael Curry Subject: Eddi Reader US tour dates For those who don't mind seeing Hothouse Flowers too (or leaving early)... Looks like i thas 3 Moby Dick songs, but it's not the Moby Dick show. Also sounds like she was fed up with doing Moby Dick, so I don't think we'll be seeing it on this tour :( neal ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Apr 2001 22:58:01 -0600 From: Neal Copperman Subject: Re: questions on the new ani At 6:56 AM -0700 4/23/01, Neile Graham wrote: >And with a new Veda >Hille, a new Kristin Hersh, Splashdown's _Blueshift_ finding its way into >my hands, and discovering Bonfire Madigan's _Saddle The Bridge_, well, it's >unlikely to get back into my disc player anytime soon. Glad you are liking Madigan so much. I think it's a pretty exciting disc myself. I've been listening to the previous disc a fair amount in my car. Don't worry about it. You're fine. There is definitely a large fan base for wispier, folkier music, but there's plenty of room for harder stuff too, and it's nice to have the diversity. I don't know how many Lords of Acid fans are out there, but there are definitely a fair number of Diamanda fans. >I'm probably worried about >nothing, but I know that some people are very particular about what subjects >go on a mailing list, and I just want to be told if I am slightly off-topic >here. Ecto is pretty tolerant, and little is off topic. You typically have to push a few buttons to get a nasty response. The worst that will happen is that if you bring up stuff that people aren't interested in, you won't get any responses. If you aren't familiar with them, you should probably seek out something by Caterwaul. I think they would be right up your alley. I remember when they came to town (which was baltimore at the time, many years ago). I didn't get to the show, but I still remember the paper said they sounded like a cross between Cocteau Twins and Led Zeppelin, and I still think that's an excellent description. neal np: Amazing World - Tito Puente (Still doing kids tunes) ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V7 #118 **************************
