Dino Valenti pretty much took over the band after Shady Grove and he's got to have one of the most irritating voices ever. Probably not much chance, as another poster wrote, but you could try writing directly to Herb Alpert at A&M Records in LA (don't have the address). He and Lani were an item back then, and maybe he could be convinced with a single letter to put it out on CD. Stranger things have happened. If it's already been on CD, then maybe someone could find you a set of MP3s. Peter Green, the founder of Fleetwood Mac once marched into his manager's office with a 12-gauge shotgun, demanding that his manager stop sending Peter any more royalty checks! I think it had the desired effect, but I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone; I'm pretty sure one needs to adopt the correct attitude and posture for such an action, not to mention a reliable exit strategy! ;) Peter was unfortunately going through some serious personal bewilderment at the time, and shortly thereafter gave away all his money to the Save The Children Fund, and went back to work on a construction site, proving that his wonderful heart was in the right place, even if his head was not. I suppose a more legal, (albeit, boring) method would be to have as many of your friends and relatives as possible write or email the company, showing their support for the artist in question. Maybe if you included the Peter Green story at the end of the letter....? You might be the one to help out! I've also posted this note at . Special Note from Trey Gunn The TG Army The Trey Gunn Band is looking to a build a 'localized' promo base. So we are reaching out to you, our fans, to help us build a grass roots "TG ARMY" with members in every city and town across the country. If you like what we do, and would like to help us succeed in this crazy business so we can go on making great Records and putting on better and better live shows, then please consider joining us on our mission! We are booking a west coast tour for the beginning of February 2001 (Seattle, Portland, Eugene, Arcata, San Fransisco, Los Angeles, San Diego.) What we need are individuals in each of these cities to help us bring more people to the shows and increase the band's presence. These people must have knowledge of: 1. What are the best local record stores for putting posters in? (Also music stores, rehearsal studios, etc.) 2. Could we do an in-store performance in one of these stores? 3. What is the potential radio show that we could either do interviews for or play live on? 4. Where are the local music schools (or music departments of local colleges) that would have people who would be interested in this band? 5. What are the local music magazines that would want to write about this band? 6. Any other ideas on how to get people to come to the show that wouldn't otherwise be coming. If you are this person and are willing to help put up posters and make arrangements, please e-mail us at tgarmy@treygunn.com Spread the word!
