I haven't seen this mentioned here, but particularly in light of our recent discussion about Happy's live performance, it's pertinent. I checked the news page at auntiesocialmusic.com, and it appears that Happy is auctioning off the Ovation 6-string acoustic guitar she has been playing and performning with since 1994. From the news page itself: > HAPPY TO AUCTION GUITAR > Happy will also be auctioning her acoustic/electric 6-string Ovation > Collector's Series 1994 guitar. She will do it on eBay (with a pretty hefty > reserve price), but will wait a little bit, in case anyone in the Ectophile > group wants to make a direct offer first. Any interested parties should > probably contact me, Sara at sara@auntiesocialmusic.com. So, if you want to own a piece of Happy Rhodes history, now is the time to act! (Also on the news page are some pretty interesting tidbits about the Ectofest West performance ... if I wasn't already planning to be there, I'd be making my plans now!) +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ Shop Safely Online Without a Credit Card http://www.rocketcash.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 02:50:31 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: New music (for me, anyway) Hi! In fact, one of the reasons I bought a Cassiopeia, and not a Palm Pilot, was to keep not only my CDs-to-buy list, but copies of my CDs-already-bought lists in a form I could carry around... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 21:06:36 -0600 (CST) From: "Mitchell A. Pravatiner" Subject: Happy and me, by Henry Gibson :-) I met Happy after her first (and to date, only) Chicago performance. She told me how much she liked the various Happy Gift/Birthday Project tapes. I asked if she had seen any of the Cows on Parade public art exhibit then on display around town, as I recall she said she had not, but had heard about it. I began to think out loud about what an ecto cow might look like, and finally came up with a takeoff on the _Warpaint_ cover art: the cow could be painted grayish-blue, with its hoof pressed against its cheek a la Happy's pose. Happy was amused. The End. :-) Mitch ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 23:50:27 -0500 From: recount dracula Subject: Reminder: Jane on CBC new jane siberry interview coming up! >From: "Glen Hansman" >To: >Subject: Reminder: Jane on CBC >Date: Thu, 28 Dec 2000 10:19:43 -0800 > >Radio alert: Tune in to CBC radio on December 31st to hear a new Siberry >interview. 2:05 EST/Atlantic; 3:05 PST; 4:05 MST. > >On Tapestry, which focusses on "focuses on the ideas which animate religious >life and spiritual practice." > >December 31 >Don Hill explores the offerings of the West Coast Sacred Music Festival, >where he discovers that the word "universe" means "one song" and talks to >musicians and writers who express their spirituality through their music. >Also, a seasonal conversation with Canadian singer songwriter Jane Siberry >about her new album of spirituals. > >Anyone taping this? ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V6 #390 **************************
