But then there was Natalie Merchant. And Paula Cole. And some other groovy stuff...including Ani playing "little Plastic Castles." I was staring at the string trying to figure out what the hell instrument she was playing -- looked just like an acoustic guitar but it only had four strings. So, um, baritone uke, I guess? eff ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Sep 2000 19:56:57 -0400 From: the real dick cheney Subject: Re: ELYSIAN FIELDS Show when we last left our heroes, Steve Molla exclaimed: >I would so much LOVE to see them on concert!!! It's actually the adventures of Michelle Domingue, a female messiah doing what female messiah's must do in today's global media, relayed by Cindy Lee Berryhill. Often hilarious. More cerebral than a modern day "Life Of Brian" and wonderfully twisted like Terry Southern. Alan NP: Rickie Lee Jones - "It's Like This" (comes with bonus live disc at Borders, btw.) Loving it right away! Song NP: her cover of Traffic's "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2000 00:23:05 EDT From: "Hotel America" Subject: The Green World Is anyone else in love with Dar Williams' new CD? I have to admit, it took me a couple days to get into it...on the first listen, I was struck by how "mainstream alternarock" the production was. But Dar is such a versatile artist, she can work her magic even in that arena! I'm not really familiar with her last CD, but "The Green World" definitely rivals "Mortal City" for sheer listenability. Best songs, IMHO, "What do you love more than love" and "We learned from the sea". (Yes, the accordion in the latter song DOES remind me of Titanic, and YES, the beginning of "Playing to the Firmament" is HIGHLY reminiscent of "Dancing Queen". No matter -- everyone should DEFINITELY get this CD right now! I'm so excited to see her play live here in New Haven on Tuesday! --Chuck - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chuck Colman www.chuckcolman.com www.mp3.com/chuckcolman _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Very nice. :) I have two questions, Chuck: 1) How do the "Payback Earnings" work? I think I'm the 3rd person here to say they gave your stuff a listen and like it, but the site says you have no payback earnings. Does it require actual download, rather than listening to it streaming? Just in case, I made sure I downloaded all tracks. 2) Who decides on the download file titles? If it's you, I'd suggest putting the artist name in there (i.e., you) as well as the song title. Just the song title can definitely get lost in a download directory, or a "Music" directory. - -K On Thu, 14 Sep 2000, Neile Graham wrote: > I just went over and had a quick listen.
