Just wanted to quickly plug one of my favourite albums of the year, "Showbiz" by English trio Muse. Their music is kind of along the same lines as Radiohead (dark and brooding) but I like the Muse album better than what Radiohead I've heard. Definitely worth a listen! Also, does anybody have any comments on the new Morcheeba album? Or the new Dar Williams album? - -sherlyn =-= Sherlyn Koo - sherlyn@fl.net.au =-=-=-=-=-=-= [Sydney, Australia] "They say goldfish have no memory - I guess their lives are much like mine..." - Ani Difranco ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Aug 2000 23:02:00 -0700 From: Billi Mazur Subject: Belated Ecto messages from me Greetings Everyone, Billi and I just got back a few days ago from our two week holiday in Europe. I don't know about that, I haven't confirmed it. Just a note for Mac users: in the days of the first ecto broadcast we were left in the lurch, but the times have changed. Both Audion and MacAmp now support Shoutcast (and Icecast); other programs like SoundJam probably do too, but these two are the ones I've used. In fact I'm tuned in with Audion right now and it works very well, even through my poor 56k modem. I thought I would give any and all Joan Osborne fans a quick warning about her new album "Righteous Love". I got an advance copy through a friend because he knows "Relish" has always been a staple in my CD changer. Interscope picked Osborne up after Polygram dropped her when they said "Righteous" wasn't up to par...and they were right. This collection of songs sounds as if it was recorded in someone's basement 10 mintues after Joan woke up following a late night out with the girls. Her voice lacks the fire and grit of "Relish" which is even more prominent in her second release "Early Recordings". The last song is worth a listen because it has soul, but I have to say I am extremely disappointed with the (I can't believe I'm saying this) under produced yard sale quality of such a creative personality. I'll still squeeze up to the front row when she comes to First Ave in Minneapolis on September 22nd, but I'm really glad I didn't have to cough up the $13 to pay for "Righteous Love". I plan on giving the CD another turn or two and then I'll wait for her to redeem the songs during a live performance. - -Anne Deming ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2000 12:37:41 -0400 (EDT) From: Jet Girl Subject: Where is Nina Hagen now?
