Highlights: Lovebites, "exploding star" and "live +2" (if there are any fans of sarge out there, the three discs by lovebites are essential...especially their first album "nothing but joy") The newest Bel Canto album "rush" and Anneli Drecker's "tundra" :) :) Magga Stina, "An Album"- icelandic, kind of wierd and wonderful a la bjork Sigur Ros, "Von" and their new one (thanks for the recommendations, they are wonderful) Under Byen, "Kyst" - sort of like the cocteau twins but more understandable...beautiful stuff Solveig Sandnes, "analog" - reminds me very much of sarah cracknell/st. etienne Emiliana Torrini, "Love in the Time of Science" Anne Lorentzen, "sare sinn" [www.annelorentzen.no], for any fan of Jorane, this is a must have too! Anne Lorentzen is back and is unfolding her talent again. Såre sinn has become a warm and beautiful record which draws the listener in towards it. The songs fall gently on the ear and the production is seductive, almost hypnotic...It is a floaty sound picture in which the listener dreamily sails." Translated from Dagbladet 21.09.99 by Anders Grønneberg. Anna Halldorsdottir, "Undravefurinn", as much as I liked her first album that I had before going to Iceland, her second album is even better Lisa Ekdahl, "s/t", "boitom det bla", "med kroppen mot jorden" - the three swedish lisa albums that I couldnt find in the usa... The interesting thing about prices of cd's was that denmark was actually very reasonable in price (about $15 for a new cd if you get the vat tax back) norway was about $20 and iceland $23-25. The best buy was definatley the Anne Lorentzen for $3 in a store in Norway...I was a little disappointed with the lack of Velvet Belly that I could find...oh well...my suitcases were heavy enough as it was :) Cheers and see you at ectofest :) Jason ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V6 #235 **************************
