Just clarifying what I meant by top 10 lists. The ones I have are people's choices for top 10 albums of 1999, though some people added other things like favorite soundtracks, books, movies, etc, favorite new discoveries, re-issues, most-listened to songs, etc. I think as far as putting them online, we would just have a "best of category" and then you could click on the year and see all the posts for that year. As I said before, anyone who wants to include a top 10 of 1999 list is welcome. I don't know if any of the pre-1999 top 10 lists are archived anywhere. I feel a little weird doing this, but thought I would give it a shot. Background: I've been accepted into 3 artist residency programs for my fiction writing. 1 month at the Ragdale Foundation in Illinois; 1 month at the Vermont Studio Center; and 6 months at Chitraniketan, in the city of Kovalam, on the southwest coast of India. I am excited beyond belief, as I applied to 4 programs, mostly as an exercise, hoping but certainly not expecting to get in. Problem: I have virtually no savings and a great, but low-paying, job, and no time to work a second job. I'm doing everything I can think of to raise the money to go to at least 1 or 2 of the programs, and I thought I'd sell off as much of my cd collection as I can bear to part with. Therefore, the asking price, I realize, is kind of high, but it's for a good cause. (I'm happy to give anyone info about the programs or other programs I have info on, as I know there are lots of artists on ecto). I'll pay for s&h, and I can do things like make mix tapes and stuff to throw in. Walter, the owner, was talking on the phone and writing in this Oct 4 date, then he flipped to September, and filled in Ectofest. I laughed and pointed to the envelope I was holding, and produced the flyers. What an eerie coincidence, he says. He was talking to Bon Lozaga, scheduling this show. [cue sci-fi music here] I got a chuckle out of a sign he had on the wall - tell your favorite brick & mortar record stores to use this - "Where do you think the stuff on eBay comes from?" ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V6 #234 **************************
