I just saw her last Saturday performing with George Sarah, known for his electronic collaborations with THC, Uberzone, Polar Bear, and Ethyl Meatplow. Everyone knows she's famous for her session work so it's no surprise that these days, she's been providing violin accompaniment for many L.A. "underground" artists like Abbey Booth, John Doe, Cool Water Canyon, Perry Farrell, The Negro Problem, Fishbone, Peter Case, The Wild Colonials, and the list goes on. She's had weekly residencies and 14 Below, Genghis Cohen Cantina, Moondog Cafe, and the Viper Room over the years but it seems she plays every club in town. I also saw her once last year on a great lineup at a club called Goldfingers. She jammed with The Wild Colonials and Diego Sandrin. Joy Askew and Deborah Holland also played that night. As far as new solo material, I haven't asked her about it because it looks like she's keeping busy with the "guest" role (Fishbone's "Familyhood Experience...".) I think she's got a show coming up so I may stop by to get the scoop. Refers to my absolute fave song from "'Til We Have Faces." Also the liner reproduction of "Le Printemps." Track seven, if memory serves. Shows off Karen's voice at its best, and collaterally, will shame any stereo owner whose equipment is sub-par...
