If you just want to hear the studio version, I could upload an mp3 of it somewhere (Chris?). It's one of his best works in years - wonderful backing vocals and duets with Margo Timmins and Lucinda Williams. Also a notable acknowledgement to Ani Difranco for inspiration in song creation. Production by Bruce and Colin Linden. I think Bruce is now distributed by Rykodisc in the US. Hey, all-- A friend of mine who works for an unnamed online retailer who deals with boks and music and more gave me a promo disc for a band called Equation, _Hazy Daze_. Well, there's a possibility that the band is Lazy Daze and the album is _Equation_ but I don't think so. Anyway, though pleasant, it does not appeal to me. It is your basic pop music, the lead singer (female) has quite a nice voice, and they add a violin into the mix. They say to file it under folk, but the only evidence is to me is the violin. Some quiet songs, some more rocking. It's put out by Putumayo Artists, though originally by Warner UK last year, so someone reading this might have heard it before and be able to say something else about it. It's quite nice, but not for me. Anyway, anyone who wants this can have it by being the first to arrange to send me enough postage to get it, or by arranging some other trade. - --Neile Equation, _Hazy Daze_ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Neile Graham ...... http://www.sff.net/people/neile ....... neile@sff.net Les Semaines: A Weekly Journal . http://www.sff.net/people/neile/semaines The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music ....... http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Sep 1999 16:59:02 -0700 From: Neile Graham Subject: Re: OT - New Bruce Cockburn album >Dave (awash in a sea of wonderful new music this September). Yeah, with double discs Tuesday from both NIN and Tori -- I suspect that if I leave them in the bag together for too long they may spawn some truly frightening EPs :-) - -- |> ~The only thing that is not art is inattention~ --- Marcel Duchamp <| | jzitt@metatronpress.com http://www.metatronpress.com/jzitt | | Latest CD: Shekhinah: The Presence http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt | | Comma: Voices of New Music Silence: the John Cage Discussion List | ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V5 #313 **************************
