Maxwell is a solo singer with a terrific soulful voice that is very high, almost falsetto. I can see how he'd be mistaken for a female. For fans of old-school soul, I heartily recommend his debut album "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite." (1996). Supposedly, on his Unplugged performance, before he sang TWW, he said a sentence or two about how much he loves KaTe, urging the audience to listen to her. I think his words were "She's the bomb." Hello my fellow Ectophiles, Billi and I received our copy of Ectopia on Friday. I had a very long and rewarding, but hectic, week at work. It was a wonderful surprise for me when Billi came to pick me up after work on Friday and handed me our copy of Ectopia. I have to echo what Kim and Dirk are saying below. I will just add "Wow"!!! Fog and Cyoakha did an outstanding job with the design and layout. It is really beautiful. Kudos to both of you!!! Also, I agree that the musicianship and production is very good throughout Ectopia. I have listened to it several times already. I won't single out any one artist that has contributed to Ectopia. Every contributor's music is wonderful, IMHO! I also think that Fog did an excellent job in placing the order of each contributor's pieces. The pacing is perfect throughout the disc! I hope that there are a few of you who are looking into getting Ectopia. I truly believe that there is a lot here to savor and enjoy. Take care everyone! We both enjoyed it very much. It is a period piece set in late 19th century England. It is charming, witty and has a few interesting plot twists. It was also well cast. Cate Blanchette and Minnie Driver were both excellent in their roles. We both want to see TBWP. I actually like the premise of them making you believe that it is real. Who knows for sure? ;-) Anyway... we have will have to find out where it's playing in the Bay Area. It's not playing at any of the local theatres near where we live. It probably is playing somewhere in the City or in Berkeley. Take care, Bill ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jul 1999 18:52:02 -0700 From: Bill Mazur Subject: A belated welcome!
