Best album to listen to at 3am on a hot summer night: Cat Power-Moon Pix: Melancholy, aching. Turn on the fan and let this one chase your nightmares away. Best albums that evoke foreign lands: Katell Keineg-Jet: With songs like Ole Conquistaor and Leonor, you'll be overseas in no time. Saint Etienne-Good Humor: A little British, Euro-pop, Burt Bacharach, Cardigansish mojo working fun. Air-Moon Safari: Put this one on and try not to be whisked away to Paris in the 60's. A truly unique experience. Best albums for a rainy day: Nick Drake-Way to Blue: The best of this amazing singer is an essiential album and the best soundtrack to that day you spend with the cat thinking about the guy/girl you once loved. Lisa Germano-Slide or Excerpts from a Love Circus: Both albums have a haunting beauty to them and are made for melancholy days. Depending on the reason for breaking up, some restaurants are better than others: For example, if you reveal that you've been cheating you might want to choose restaurant with multiple exits; if you're breaking up because you find your ex boring, a theater restaurant or pub with music might be a good idea. And so on. On to the music. Best album for enhancing your melancholy: October Project's October Project Best album for starting a new life, career, or just moving on: Renaissance's Ashes Are Burning Best album for helping you make a difficult decision: Fiona Joyce's Lifting the Veil Best album to make you feel like you're walking down a Paris street, eating a pastry, and you don't care how much chocolate you get on your face: April March's Chrominance Decoder Best new album I've bought recently (for what it's worth): Grey Eye Glances' Eventide - --Bill n.p.
