Lilith fair hey, any ectos going to the lilith show at the rose bowl? let's meet up! also if anyone can supply directions that'd be great, new to the area. mirrorball- like it so far, sarah always puts on a great show, but all she plays from solace is PATH OF THORNS which i'm sick of. hold on, my favorite sarah song lacks it's usual edge and urgency, it's just pretty like everything else, but this is indicative of her latest album. i still like it but i can't help but missing the "sad, long haired, black dress-wearing" Sarah, as my friend calls her. still, fumbling towards ectasy and ice cream are great on mirrorball and i can't wait to see her on lilith since she'll probably go on hiatus for a while after. any ectos live in santa monica? i'm staying there for a month. is sarah's cookbook out? yeesh, cookbooks, as if she isn't mainstream enough, still bet there are some great veggie dishes. n.p. mirrorball-good enough ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Jun 1999 00:06:24 -0400 From: dave Subject: Lynn Canfield Just got back from seeing the Lynn Canfield show at the Borders Ampitheater in Wilm. DE. The show was taped for a Studio M internet broadcast to be aired at a later date, they were taking video too, will have to check on when it's going to be aired. There was a pretty small crowd, it being Monday and all, probably about a dozen that stayed for the whole thing, and a bunch more orbiting around the perimeter.. I did spot Dwayne Keith of Grey Eye Glances there. I have to say, I'd never heard Lynn before that I know of, but someone mentioned the show here, and it's close by, and I'd been hearing about Moon 7 Times for a while now, so... The band (Hot Tub Party) consists of Billy G (or Superdude) on sax, clarinet, accordion and percussion, and Jesse B (or Darth Waiter) on keyboards, and the backup singers.. a couple of birds, I'm not sure what type.. only heard a few whistles from them, despite Lynn coaxing them on.. heh heh... There was a bit of trouble with the sound system, but other than that I liked what I heard, nice voice, good songs.. I was rather impressed. Here's the setlist out of the tourbook, don't remember if it was in this exact order though, and I know they skipped one song that they hadn't learned yet. My Game Further By My Eyes This One Fat Dog Straw Donkeys Firefly Inside Only Cat A Big World of Fun Ride Em Chuck Effingham ( I do recall liking this one quite a bit) Ethereal Girl With Louise Go Home Mary Knock One Desire Poor Baby Sweet Revenge As Thick As Thieves Nerves of Steel The True Present (a Christmas song) They played straight through, with just a short break to take a group picture of all of us.. After the show I bought The Lynn Canfield Box Lunch Set, which contains the first two Area CDs, all three Moon Seven Times CDs, The Moon Seven Times 45", the Shotgun Wedding CD, 3 Big Dang comix, a S.W. calendar, a bunch of promo books and cards, salt pepper and silverware and a fruit shaker. Pretty cool... They'll be at the Borders in Kensington MD june 22 8-10pm and Arlene's Grocery june 23 at 7pm. I've got dates for 6 more shows, if anyone's interested let me know and I'll post them. - -- +-----------------------------------------------+ + dave + +-----------------------------------------------+ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Jun 1999 03:53:12 -0400 From: Joseph Zitt Subject: Re: Lynn Canfield On Tue, Jun 22, 1999 at 12:06:24AM -0400, dave wrote: > After the show I bought The Lynn Canfield Box Lunch Set, which contains > the first two Area CDs, all three Moon Seven Times CDs, The Moon Seven > Times 45", the Shotgun Wedding CD, 3 Big Dang comix, a S.W. calendar, > a bunch of promo books and cards, salt pepper and silverware and a fruit > shaker. Pretty cool... Now *that's* a collector's item. Or something. I just listened to M7x's "7=49", after realizing that I couldn't remember anything about it. Ooh.. now I'm looking forward to tonight's show more than ever. BTW, that CD must set some sort of record for hidden tracks -- 13 hidden tracks, all with content (as contrasted with the NIN hidden tracks that mostly count up to 99 or so), and a 14 track disk. n.p.i.m.h.: King Crimson: Matte Kudesai (which some of M7x reminded me of) - -- | jzitt@metatronpress.com http://www.metatronpress.com/~jzitt | | Latest Solo CD: Gentle Entropy http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt | | Comma: Voices of New Music Silence: the John Cage Discussion List | | Next Comma Performance: June 19, 6 PM, Art-O-Matic, Washington, DC | ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jun 1999 21:56:27 -0700 (PDT) From: John Drummond Subject: McGowan? Y'all, Okay, as per Neile's request, I went to go look at the Natacha Atlas page to see what I could add, you know, spice it up with comments and things... so I went into the guide and hit the A-Z search and clicked on A, and the first thing that caught my eye was "Pepper Acton - see Pepper McGowan"... so I clicked and it was all, "originally performed as Pepper Acton"... and so what in the hell happened? I mean... what? Why'd she change her name, and why'd she change to McGowan? Did she get married? Is she trying to be more like the new Mrs. Warner-Manson? I'm not following here... John p.s.
