Just a little curiosity.. Saw an article on the new MP3 player from Realnetworks, RealJukebox. They had a picture of the user interface and there were 2 groups listed on it, Indigo Girls and Autour de Lucie.. thought those were interesting choices.. wonder if there's an ectophile at realnetworks or what? later +-----------------------------------------------+ + dave + + Visit Sideshow Bob's House of Wax and Waffles + + Female vocalists, Christian, and Polish music + + -=-=- and the fabulous Kasia Kowalska -=-=- + + http://magpage.com/~sspan/ + +-----------------------------------------------+ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 21:19:25 -0500 From: Mark Lowry Subject: Indigo Girls vinyl to trade Hi, "Shed Your Skin" remixes by Stephen Nikolas and Audio Dependency Syndrome. Four versions. Never been played. Any interest? Oh, was anybody else on the verge of tears in Buffy tonight when they played the Sundays' version of "Wild Horses"? Mark (still way embarrassed over that major KaTe faux pas -- what was I on?) np The Waifs _Shelter Me_ (worked out in a trade -- thanks Neal for introducing me! I *love* this album.) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 23:36:42 -0400 From: Jeffrey Burka Subject: Re: Indigo Girls vinyl to trade Mark sez: > "Shed Your Skin" remixes by Stephen Nikolas and Audio Dependency > Syndrome. Four versions. Never been played. Any interest? I once made a comment about vinyl to my sister. She turned and asked, "What's that?" Of course, she knew...like me, she grew up with a record player in the house (though she was 7 when we got our first CD player, back in '83). But she was distant enough from the concept not to have it click when I mentioned it. This scared me. > Oh, was anybody else on the verge of tears in Buffy tonight when they > played the Sundays' version of "Wild Horses"? Hilarious in concert, excellent harmonies as well. I love them. IMO the single doesn't really showcase their talents to the full, because it's fairly heavily produced. But, it does give a bit of an idea about what bluehouse are like...) - -sherlyn - ---begin forwarded message--- >Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 10:00:17 -0000 >From: mark@omeara.net >To: bluehouse-news@eGroups.com >Subject: [bluehouse-news] Albums news and more > >Ok here goes, > >the launch date for Big is 17th of May. Today's book discussion caused another bout of EWS--this time with books! Luckily I had a couple of birthday gift certificates to help ease the damage, but I picked up Black Wine - Candas Jane Dorsey Random Acts of Senseless Violence - Jack Womack Briar Rose - Jane Yolen Memory and Dream - Charles De Lint Neile is a bad influence on my spending--but then she'd recommended Michael Cunningham's The Hours to me earlier this year, and it just won the Pulitzer, and from previous experience I know she's got pretty reliable taste. By the way Neile, I did pick The Hours up a while back--along with his other two novels--but have yet to get to any of them. Today I also picked up: 334 - Thomas Disch (who wasn't mentioned today, but my friend who's the scifi editor at amazon.com had it as one of her picks) The White Bone - Barbara Gowdy The last one is by the author of Mr. Sandman (no relation to the Gaiman Sandman comics, but a great little novel nonetheless). This sounds like quite a departure-- apparently a well-researched novel about elephants from the elephants point of view--sounds kind of like Watership Down or something, but looks pretty tragic. Anyone read this yet? Jeff Hanson n.p. Mila Drumke - Illinois (Finally picked this up--I love her version of Under the Ivy-- but not sure about the rest of the album. I like it--it just hasn't bowled me over yet--I can't get past the resemblance her voice has to Lynn Canfield's--at least on certain songs.) n.r. Cold Mountain - Charles Frazier ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V5 #168 **************************
