I was wondering what are the differences between that version and the one on Winter Garden? TDTCWA was recorded primarily in churches... she was going for that kind of big hall feel. AWG was recorded in the studio, although I don't see musician credits its probably a similar group as Mask and Book. I think the 'big hall' sound of the former tends to muddy her vocals, although I do like the title track (she calls it "in Praise of Christmas") and "the King". I much prefer "Snow" from Winter Garden. And its version of "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" would not sound too out of place on Book of Secrets, with its eastern sounding rhythm intro. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Apr 1999 20:39:11 -0400 (EDT) From: joann.whetsell@oberlin.edu (JoAnn Whetsell) Subject: Beth Orton/ Angelique Kidjo Hi all. I'm doing pages for the guide for Beth Orton and Angelique Kidjo. I realized while I was working on Beth's page, that the booklet for the Best Bits EP is at home. Does anyone have this who could send me the info I need to put it on the page? This would be release date, label, and code #, musicians and instruments. Please also send any comments to me to go on the page. I have Angelique Kidjo's last 4 albums (Logozo through Oremi). If anyone has earlier albums and would like to help me work on this page, please let me know. - -JoAnn ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Apr 1999 20:40:36 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: Happy covers Hi! Lord knows they really wanted to do something. Doing anything right is too expensive in the video biz. And they wanted to do it right or not at all. Well, I still have hope that some day down the line Samson will get Happy a video. I guess it's just one of those small world coincidences. The interview will take place at 9:30 a.m. EDT. Since we're currently in the midst of our Spring fundraising marathon, Rod will also have copies of the CD to offer as a premium item tomorrow morning. WPKN is located at 89.5 FM and can be heard in Connecticut and on the eastern half of Long Island. - --Valerie Richardson ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V5 #125 **************************
