Lori Carson has two shows scheduled: 4-Feb-99 at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco 5-Feb-99 at McCabes in Santa Monica Friends in NYC who saw her 23-Dec-98 Mecrury Lounge show tell us that she's got a new album waiting to be released, and even newer material than that which she's permorming live. I'll definately be at the SF show, but I have a friend who's offered to put me up in Santa Monica, to I might do that as well. If you're going to do either show, let me know - see you there! It contains 13 songs, is running 76 minutes and has been recorded during their last year's Germany tour. I've seen them last year and was very delighted, not being a big Rainbirds fan before. They were only three: Katharina Franck, Ulrike Haage and the drummer. So the arrangements were totally different from the original versions, more sparse and even more experimental so that I was immediately carried away by their music and of course I had to buy this fantastic live album. I bought it without listening to it, just because I read some promising reviews, but I really don't like it. Hi all, Looks like I'll have occasion to be in the Minneapolis region from 2/2 to 2/9 (as if winding up in Minnesota in February wasn't evidence enough of my poor timing, I'll be touching down up there just as Patty Griffin takes the stage opening for Lucinda Williams in St. Louis...) and I seem to recall a couple of 'philes reside (or at least used to) up thataway. Pollstar, Musi-cal, and Dirty Linen point to these: 2/4 Cosy Sheridan 2/7 Tish Hinojosa/Sara Hickman/Susan Werner 2/8 Altan That looks like a hard-to-miss triple bill on the 7th. Anyone going? Does anyone have pointers to local acts of interest that might be playing? The only local I know to look up is Marlee MacLeod, and she will indeed be playing on the 4th - anyone familiar with O'Gara's? Hmmm. Just chock-full of questions tonight. bob np Jenifer Smith - Coda Mesa ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1999 00:04:31 -0600 From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: From Happy: Emu for sale... Hey musictechies with bucks, Happy's giving Ectophiles first dibs and she asked me to pass this on: "I am selling my Emu ESI32 Sampler. It's in great condition. $800. Inquiries can respond to me at RoyandLeon@aol.com I recommend folks still write casual correspondence through the Samson site" (hrhodes@samsonmusic.com) "RoyandLeon"!! Blade Runner and The Professional combined. I *love* that! Vickie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1999 00:14:19 -0600 (CST) From: Talamasca Subject: Re: From Happy: Emu for sale... I could be wrong though. She could have meant both Leons. Good catch though, I didn't think of him, even though Blade Runner is in my Top 5 favorite films of all time. The Replicants were Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer), Pris (Daryl Hannah), Leon (Brion James I), Zhora (Joanna Cassidy), Rachael (Sean Young) and, ha!...well, arguably, Rick (Harrison Ford).
