To all those who so kindly offered me copies of the Cathy demos, thank you so much! (I was surprised at just how many of you had copies...hmm...) Ecto came through for me--I will soon have a copy of my very own. Gee, what a way to celebrate my first anniversary as an ecto member... - --Kay np: Susan James, Shocking Pink Banana Seat ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Unfortunately the music of Penelope Swales is in the same category as Happy Rhodes (who I still havent heard!) She is a female vocalist/story teller/guitarist with an amazing stage presence. I saw her first 3 years ago at the Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland and have seen her many times since then and am always excited by her music and stories no matter how many times I have heard them. Before each song she always tells a story to go along with it which really makes the whole performance very special. I have all (except her brand new one) her CDs and would be happy to make you a tape of her music to make London just a little warmer :) Amanda Graham wrote: > Dear Amanda, > > I saw your posting to the Ecto Ng. While it's, well, movie musical music, it's pretty good, and she has a lot of room to sing. A surprising amount of the singing is actually in Hebrew (both by her and some choral stuff). I came in to the movie quite dubious -- but they did it right. Every Hebrew school should get a copy of the video to show just before Passover. - - ---------1---------1---------1---------1---------1---------1---------- |||/ Joseph Zitt ===== jzitt@humansystems.com ===== Human Systems \||| ||/ Maryland? = <*> SILENCE: The John Cage Mailing List <*> = ecto \|| |/ http://www.realtime.net/~jzitt ====== Comma: Voices of New Music \| ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jan 1999 13:31:48 -0800 From: Bill Mazur Subject: Re: Penelope Swales Hello everyone, I don't know if all of you here at Ecto are already aware of this fact, but Graham has a really nice web site. The site is entitled "Celestial Voices - Ethereal Hauntingly Beautiful Female Vocals". His site turned me on to a few new female vocalists that I was unfamiliar with previously. Based on his description of Pia and her CD " Benediction Moon" on his site, I purchased her CD. It was a very good recommendation. I find it to be quite soothing and enjoyable music. Anyway, here is his URL: http://www.graham.lubin.com/music.html Enjoy! Bill > Graham wrote: > > > Dear Amanda, > > > > I saw your posting to the Ecto Ng.
