Except I mostly hate so-called reggae covers by folks like Sting, Paul Simon, that new Bonnie Raitt single, etc. (Well, I did like when Patti Smith and later Chrissie Hynde ventured into that territory.) I also like Sister Carol, have seen her live, even had her tour teeshirt...yeah, mon! But she's no longer one of my faves in the reggae genre. I go more for the latest in dancehall style, but, when I'm in the mood for singers, I choose a gal like Judy Mowatt (who was one of Bob Marley's backup singers in the I-Threes) or a crooner like Beres Hammond. I'm nowhere near ready to start thinking about a best-of list, but just a few days ago I'd been thinking to myself what a wonderful year it's been for new music! jeff - -- |Jeffrey C.
