Neal np: Syd Straw - war and peace (After the occasional high praise of Ms. Straw, I was happy to stumble across her disc used here in Albuquerque. It's been getting a lot of play lately. It doesn't blow me away, or have anything particularly striking about it, but it's got well-arranged songs and really excellent songwriting that makes it a pretty compelling album. CBGB's would fit perfectly on Amy Rigby's Diary of a Mod Housewife. Black Squirrel sounds like a Cowboy Junkies song [well, not exactly like one, but if they recorded it, it would sound like one, but then again, wouldn't anything? oh, never mind.)
