There are about 160 people on the ecto-digest. jeff ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Aug 1998 00:40:08 -0500 (CDT) From: kerrywhite@webtv.net (kerry white) Subject: Fwd: Topeka Tales of Fudd - --WebTV-Mail-1673534555-405 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Hi, I sent this out earlier and it didn't show up yet, 'tho the 1 I sent from work later did. Listening to MWABT on the way home...zowee! Have heard 'jork' (MWABT) twice live and now..... Got up this AM and called around. Hastings book and music had >>1<< copy sent to them. It's mine now. I talked HR up a lot w/ the music guy there. They had it earmarked for "Easy Listening" sound unheard. I also called around for Billboard, need the ad for my fan stuff. Only 1 place in Topeka sells them and they had 1 left: Beans and Nibble. When I got there I checked: they can get it special order only!!!! Gotta stop now..it's playing now , bye, KrW TV or not TV? This is my first posting, so let me give a brief introduction. I live in Fort Worth, Texas. Been a big Happy fan since I first heard "Warpaint" when it was released. I soon found her previous four (I was in NYC when I found them and instantly snapped them up), and I have everything since then. My fave is still "Warpaint," for many reasons, but that's closely followed by (in order of what I play most often) "Rearmament", "I", "Ecto" and "II". "Equipoise" is played less, and I wasn't a big fan of "BtC," but it does get some time in my CD player. Of course "Rhodesongs" and "The Keep" are great as well. I'm a huge Kate fan ("The Dreaming"!), and also Tori -- first saw her when she played in Dallas right after LE. I really didn't know the term "Ecto" was used to describe this music, my friends and I have had our own nicknames for it for years. My musical tastes range widely. Other musical faves include Concrete Blonde (Johnette Napolitano rules, she's releasing a solo album this fall!) , Legendary Pink Dots/Edward Ka-Spel, Wire, P.J. Harvey, Me'Shell NdegeOcello, The Mavericks, Tricky and Dead Can Dance. I'm an entertainment writer at the daily newspaper here, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. I've had a promo copy of MWABT for about a week, I'm reviewing it for the paper (it should run in the next couple of weeks, I'll give URL info when it runs). I've got to say that it's her best since "Warpaint." I'm just gah-gah over "100 Years," "Tragic" and "Ra Is A Busy God" (I haven't heard the previous version of that track). In the press material for the album, Happy explains every track. Curiously, she also explains the songs "Cohabitants", "Feed the Fire", "In Hiding" and "Down, Down." Anyone know why? Is there another version of MWABT that includes these songs? I do hope she comes to this area on her upcoming tour. Does anyone know if she has ever played Dallas/Fort Worth before? Also, I'll be in NYC Labor Day weekend ... anyone know of worthwhile Ectophilia concerts happening then? Thanks, Mark Lowry P.S. For anyone in the North Texas area who doesn't have the complete HR collection, I've recently seen copies of "I" "II" and "Ecto" in Dallas and Fort Worth. Contact me and I'll let you know where. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V4 #267 **************************
