Well, one thing is that I hear she's loads of fun live, and some people I know who don't like her discs LOVE to catch her live. It's as great as her live shows promised. If you like rock and great songwriting and guitar work and a strong rich voice, GET THIS! I don't know when it will start showing up in stores--I ordered my copy directly from Susan herself. - --Neile n.p. I think that Due South challenges La Femme Nikita as the most ectophilic show in terms of music...by the way, LFN has a soundtrack out either now or soon on TVT records featuring lots of techno-ish type artists... > 1.) It's a fun, engaging show, yes...something that i've recently gotten into...but I don't think that it's the best-written show on the air (my monkey opinion, of course)...i find it actually kinda stilted and the acting to be a bit painful sometimes....but i can't seem to get enough...and when they used Sarah McLachlan's "Full of Grace" on the season finale, i cried...*sigh* > 2.) Xena: Warrior Princess...Not to mention it's got one of the most intense love stories going > on tv right now. (It amazes me that the staff of the show continue to > publicly deny that Xena and Gabrielle have a thing going, while at the same > time they're writing plots and dialogue that would positively melt your tv > screen if Xena's sidekick were a guy. But anyway.) In the latest TV Guide, there's an interview with Renee O'Connor (she's freakin' 27!), and it mentions that the writers admit to blatantly suggesting a relationship between Xena and Gabrielle. I find this show to be good channel-surfing-boredom relief...i can not STAND xena's war cry and her constant glum/stern/malicious stares are almost as bad as Mulder's lazy, monotone, lack-of-variety expressionisms... > 4.) X-Files. Gotta love it. And despite what all the critics are whining > about, the movie is really, really good too. Wow. Didn't realize so many people liked the show here ;) I already spoke my piece about the show...a couple little things that nag at me, though...does it seem like Mulder is the luckiest "investigator" on the face of the earth? I mean, he rarely is able to find anything out by himself, always stumbles upon clues and answers without comprehending them, manages to elude death by sheer luck...he could just sit in his office and everything would come to him...and did it seem like in the movie that M&S were wild-goose chasing across the globe with little rhyme or reason? I know that they had to go to each different place because that's where the clues pointed them, but there didn't seem to be much significance for their being anywhere : they'd go somewhere because of a flimsy lead, have a small encounter, not really spend much time there, and then go somewhere else... > And while I'm here, let me throw in a plug for Invasion America, which is > running on the WB network this summer after Buffy on Tuesday nights (in > place of Dawson's Creek - speaking of vapid :P). It's surprisingly good. > The animation is trying a bit too hard to be anime without really getting > there, but the writing is by and large spot on, and I'm amazed by the > attention to detail. The animation reminds me of The New Adventures of Johnny Quest without as much of the CGI as Johnny Quest...the continuing storyline reminds me of the cartoon Gargoyles; complex and engaging with a serial feel to it... I guess i can mention again that Homicide has featured lots and lots of great music in its shows and incorporated the music centrally into the scenes; they've used the music of Belly, Lisa Germano, Tori, Tom Waits, Reverend Horton Heat, Morphine, The Iguanas, Heather Nova, Barenaked Ladies, and Joan Osborne. Party of Five and Dawson's Creek also play a lot of music in their shows, leaning more towards the popular/alternative side of Ecto...
