I suppose this is my final unofficial/official act regarding the Aural Gratification/Happy Rhodes album connection. This is not a drill....we're at Rhodescon 1 As I mentioned before I've been negotiating with HR's new digs, for the rights to license her music. (i.e all 9 AG albums.) We're quite close to wrapping it up (days) at which point all inventory and licenses will go to Samson Music. There are plans for compilations and greatest hits and what not. This means some of Happy's older titles may become extinct relics known only to Ectophiles and warehouse grunts. What I'm saying is that this could very well be the last chance for some of these records. I think Warpaint will always be around...probably the Keep and Rhodesongs, maybe BTC....the rest .........no one can or will tell. Contractually there are no guarantees to rerelease any titles in tact. That's just the deal. I'm not trying to sell you anything here, it doesn't matter to me at this point, I'm just alerting you to the potential and probability that the first 4 or 5 HR albums are on their way to the Guillotine and should you need to rescue any ........now is your last shot. Believe me I've fought for all sorts of guarantees for these titles to always exist, but these people have their own stratagies and plans and need the room and lattitude to run with the Happy "ball" the way they see fit. Ms. Rhodes concurrs. I've been at this deal for over 4 months now, and it's a great arrangement for HR, which has always been the criteria. Anyway....that's it for me regarding this.........so if you see some dog-eared Rhodes II in some Mom and Pop filed under "H" with 3 or 4 price stickers on it......remember......it may be the last one ! Thanks for all the support and fondest regards and all that flowery stuff. If anyone needs me to hold on to any titles for them, for Godsake's call straight away. On the early stuff I only have a few, some cases under 10. Might as well stick in a plug here whilst I have your eyes... AG still goes on with it's instrumental electronica.......Look for AG vol III and Near-Life Experience coming soon to a site near you C'ya El Presidente ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 May 1998 13:43:08 EDT From: Riphug Subject: French music..... I came across an Evelyn Glennie "Greatest Hits" album. Since she was here last fall and made me fall in love with Schwanter's percussion concerto, I picked it up for a look see. One of the tracks was "My Spine," done, apparently, with Bjork. Anybody know anything about it? I was already over-budget and so didn't pick up the disc this trip. - - Ron Starr (rstarr@eskimo.com) n.p. Ligeti, "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra" (one of the discs I picked up) n.r. Anybody know > anything about it? "My Spine" is also on the UK "It's Oh So Quiet" single. It's a nice, percussion-heavy (hence, the Glennie connection) song that Bjork and Evelyn Glennie wrote and recorded together. They also collaborated on "Oxygen" on Evelyn Glennie's greatest hits. I haven't heard that one since I don't have the greatest hits. A brief checking out of the website tonite didn't come up with much beyond a link to a Bjork site and a mention of the track on the album. Is it a question of whether the BotC CD is available through online ordering, or whether it is available for purchase at all? If the latter, then I can answer "yes". I was able to purchase the CD at their show in St. Louis (with Dar!) about three weeks ago.
