If you have me in your e-mail address book, please note that I will soon be closing my MNSi account. I haven't picked out a new ISP in Toronto yet, but the Bigfoot address I am writing from is a forwarding service, and will redirect mail to wherever I am. So, please use Carnivore@bigfoot.com if you would like to reach me. Thanks! (no offense) but i try to avoid the radio :) didn't expect to see this thread here! ;) jonatha tomorrow! kick ass! :) jessica ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 16:49:23 EDT From: MRL220 Subject: Tori concert-anybody taping it ? (sorry for the cross-post) I have just received word that ethereal singer Kristy Thirsk (formerly of the group Rose Chronicles, singer on the last two Delerium albums) has a new demo CD out. I haven't had much to add since I haven't bought a new CD in more than six months (horror of horrors), and I haven't been to see any significant live music since I ran into a bunch of you at the Ingrid Karklins concert in Middletown, CT, last year. I almost went to see Susan McKeown last week, but I wimped out when torrents of rain started falling. The last name of Kathy "I-forget-her-last-name" is "DeMino," although she rarely uses her complete name on the air. Binnie Klein has a regular monthly show on the second Saturday of the month from 6:00-10:00 p.m. And finally, Ray Terlaga not only has the coolest voice in radio but also one of the coolest minds to match it. He will be the person interviewing Merrie Amsterberg this coming Saturday at 1:00 p.m., although this is not his usual time-slot. Now that I've briefly delurked, I should use this opportunity to ask the ecto crew their recommendations for the one new CD a person should buy if they haven't bought any new music for the better part of a year. Hmmmmmmmm??? Maybe I'll actually go music shopping this coming weekend. - --Valerie Kraemer At 10:04 PM 4/30/98 -0400, woj spice wrote: >also sprach FoghornJ: > >>To those of you in the southwestern CT area, if you are not already aware of >>it I would suggest you tune your radios to WPKN 89.5 FM out of Bridgeport. >>That's where I first heard Happy Rhodes, and a lot of other interesting stuff >>to boot. > >a-yup. there is (or was) at least two wpkn deejays subscribed to ecto at >some point in time: valerie kramer (still here?) and cliff furnald (now >unsubbed). friday nights are particularly ectophilic: from 6:30 to >nominally 7:00, kathy i-forget-her-last-name plays a wide variety of music >mostly by women. then, after he makes it in from the hinterlands, ray >terlaga does a fantastic show until 10:00pm, featuring a weekly aids news >round-up and skies over bridgeport, a summary of astronomical happenings >for the coming week. plus, ray has the coolest voice in radio! > >i think binnie klein is sans show these days, but subs occasionally -- also >quite ectophilic. > >speaking of wpkn, merrie amsterberg, who is playing in stamford this >saturday with barbara kessler, will be making an appearance on the air >earlier in the afternoon at 1pm. woo hoo! > >woj > >n.p. mila drumke -- illinois > > ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 May 1998 01:17:51 -0400 (EDT) From: Neal Copperman Subject: Re: wpkn On Thu, 30 Apr 1998, Valerie Kraemer wrote: > Now that I've briefly delurked, I should use this opportunity to ask the > ecto crew their recommendations for the one new CD a person should buy if > they haven't bought any new music for the better part of a year. > Hmmmmmmmm??? Well, since this is ecto, and if this one new CD is going to be the only one you get this year, perhaps you should wait a while longer and buy the new Happy disc? (If you didn't get Ingrid's Red Hand at the show in CT, then I'd pick that one.) Neal np: Blue Rapture Live! ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V4 #135 **************************
