I've always liked (not loved) the Rumors album, and thought it looked interesting. It was pretty good (though I've loaned it to a friend already and it hasn't re-appeared). Actually, I heard it and was a little disappointed with Shawn's version of the chain. Sounded very Shawn, which is normally a good thing. It just didn't grab me. I did think that the Jewel version of You Make Lovin Fun was pretty good. Someone on the Stevie Nicks list said it was sultry enough to make a gay man turn straight. :-). Don't remember much of the rest of it, but thought it was good in general. Not sure I would buy it new, but if I see it used I would probably pick it up if I was feeling flush. Thanks to everyone for their help on my NYC plans. I am hoping to make it into the city to see Veda on the 7th. That would be awesome. I see the Dave Matthews Band as somewhere between _Dream of the Blue Turtles_-era Sting, Peter Gabriel, and, well, and something else entirely. The new album is more aggressive, and features a broader variety of styles than previous releases. Wow, thanks for the thoughts Jeff. I liked the breakout album well enough to tape, but figured DMB were definitely radio fodder as far as I was concerned. However, I'm a big Kronos fan, and I'd buy it just for that, though someone would have to bring it to my attention first :) (Kronos at Lisner - May 8. I've got tix already. I mentioned Jarre, who he knew from stuff like Oxygene, but didn't know Zoolook, which dramatically blows away everything else he's done. 13 years down the road, and it still sounds pretty exciting and only a hint of being dated (in the washes that are a holdover from the Oxygene-type stuff, not in the rest of the wildness that's going on.) Plus, Adrian Belew and Laurie Anderson are on it, which was why I bought it in the first place. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Apr 1998 00:41:43 From: meredith Subject: Re: this week's EWS inducer Hi!
