Wow, what a treat to read my ecto digest tonight and see one of my favorite bands listed! I didn't discover them until right before they broke up, so I never got to see them live, but I fell in love with the two albums I have. So Mimi is performing solo now? I got one of those in the mail yesterday and was thinking maybe I should finally go to one of these things. It sounds like a lot of fun. Is anyone else thinking of going? Has anyone been in the past who can share their experiences? The guy next to me at work is at the Tori Amos show at 9:30 tonight. I didn't feel bad about missing it when I thought it had been really hard to get tix, but when he told me how easy it had been, boy, then I was miffed. Oh well. I'm sure the show sucked :) Neal np: still more human ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 00:15:41 -0400 From: Jason and Jill Greshes Subject: Announcing lilith-fair-fans Hi everyone. After talking with the owner of smoe.org (Thanks Jeff!) and us agreeing that there's been a lot of duplication of posts and info concerning Lilith Fair on many different lists, we've decided to create one list where people can discuss Lilith Fair, ask questions concerning venues, prices, vendors, hooking up at Lilith Fair, asking for directions to various fairs, posting updates concerning dates and artists performing, discussing products available at Lilith Fair, etc. etc. Basically, your one-stop Lilith Fair info and discussion shop. To subscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: subscribe lilith-fair-fans =or= subscribe lilith-fair-fans-digest if you prefer the digest version. When you sub you will receive a long file giving all the dates and venue information so far. The list is for both news and discussion concerning Lilith Fair. It also is a fan-run list and has no official relationship or endorsed relationship with Lilith Fair, Sarah or Nettwerk. Thanks, Jason ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 00:16:08 -0400 From: "Jeffrey C. I saw Belly perform > in 1993 at the HFStival and wasn't impressed by tanya's singing... Wait a minute. You could hear tanya's singing at that show?! *I* was at that show, and it was, by far, the worst sound I have *ever* heard in RFK. In fact, that was an absolutely *horrible* day, with largely mediocre music that was made even more completely unenjoyable by the sound system from hell. Mind you, I'm not saying I disbelieve that she's a lousy live singer...I'd just never base it on that one experience. ;-) (for those wondering, yes, RFK stadium is capable of utterly entrancing acoustics, at least when the band is Pink Floyd and they've invested ridiculous amounts of money in sound equipment designed for stadiums...but some of the other bands I've seen there have sounded fine, within reason, as well) jeff np _Building the Colossus_, HTR ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 00:19:31 -0400 (EDT) From: Neal Copperman Subject: Re: Hugo Largo? That was Second Skin, the only thing recorded that comes close to catching the live shows. Even so, that song live was terrifying. That knife must have been mighty dull, because it didn't seem so lightly pressed against her. Plus, she started with about 8 layers of clothes on, and seemed to take something off after ever song. And she gave us all candy :) neal np: Buy Product (geffen sampler) track: More Human Than Human - WHite Zombie! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 00:48:04 -0500 From: Chris Snyder Subject: Lilith Fair Mansfield MA Hi Everyone I wanted to announce the winners of the Lilith Fair Acoustic Talent Search. I went to Falcon Ridge in 1996 and I count it as one of the best weekends of my life (despite meeting woj and Paul Kim - lucky meth was there to salvage the weekend. *grin* Kidding, just kidding about Paul and woj. Really. :). It's pretty much three days of solid Stuff - music on the main stage, workshops and more music on the side stages, dancing in the dancing tent, and lots more... It's a wonderful festival in a beautiful setting - the lineup for this year looks well worth it as well... I was really hoping to be able to make it over there for this year's Falcon Ridge, especially after I heard who was going to be on the lineup. I don't think it's going to happen for me this year though, so maybe next year...
