According to the Cincinnati Enquirer (a supposedly reliable newspaper), Lilith Fair tickets go on sale this coming Sunday through TicketMaster. However, TicketMaster doesn't seem to be aware of this information. Nor has anything *official* been released on the Lilith Fair website. Anyone know what's going on? With Doug's permission I'm forwarding it to Ecto in hopes that one or both of them will get answered. If so, please answer in Ecto, because I'm sure others would be interested too, if only in the Danielle Dax question. Thanks! Vickie At 01:02 PM 4/2/98 -0500, Douglas Alan wrote: >Hi Vickie. I also think it's a song from some movie soundtrack, possibly the Romeo & Juliet remake. FNAC > is the french Towers but the price is higher than what you are used to > pay in the US. If you're in North America, you should remember that French music is often a *domestic* release in Canada. Even imports are cheaper here than in France! I can't find any Montreal record stores on the net. However, A & B Sound in Vancouver does have French music. Their price for Zazie's _Zen_ album is about half the price in France. They also have several other French and Quebecois artists I tried searching for. And Quebecois artists are certainly worth looking out for. (No, not Celine Dion. Others.) I've been listening to the debut album from Montreal group Lili Fatale a lot recently. Their lyrics are very clever, not so much for wordplay but for being flowing and rhythmic - the sort of writing that sounds effortless but is actually skilfully constructed. The music reminds me of Autour de Lucie with fourteen times more energy. And it's not all the same style; it borrows from ska and trip-hop and other music that makes you want to dance. As for the CD booklet, it's bright red! There are lyrics and RealAudio files at www.lilifatale.com. justin ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Apr 1998 17:36:21 -0600 From: Lawrence Kim Subject: Garbage song... I'm surprised you were able to do THAT well, considering Loreena has a big hit song crossing over to several formats right now. Even lesser-known artists have fans who will line up before tickets go on sale, in order to get the best seats as soon as they're released. 20 minutes in, 15th row isn't bad at all for one who is riding the charts. In fact, it should be a great night, being so close. :) Dan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Apr 1998 20:40:44 +0000 From: BarBearUh Subject: cool stuff on TV Bacharach: One Amazing Night, a tribute show honoring legendary pop music writer Burt Bacharach, tapes on April 8th at the Manhattan Center in New York; scheduled performers include All Saints, Ben Folds Five, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Chrissie Hynde, Mike Myers, Luther Vandross, Dionne Warwick and Wynonna; the shows airs on TNT on April 15th at 9:00 pm ET. I remember once being 13th in line for a Sting concert and getting 25th row... (of course, for that show, the *real* first 5 rows didn't go on sale 'til the day of the show, a closely guarded secret meant to foil scalpers. I managed to snag a 3rd row ticket just a few hours before the concert, so all my friends ended up in the *30th* row while I enjoyed being right up by the stage... ;-) > In fact, it should be a great night, being so close. :) Naw, close to Loreena is front row (but then, I've never seen her any other way). But having seen her twice in incredibly intimate and then quite intimate venues, the idea of going to something relatively large, being far away, and listening to album versions of songs I don't like as much as the old stuff anyway just doesn't seem to appeal. Nothing will ever recapture the magic of hearing her play "Dickens' Dublin" from 4 feet away. jeff (who doesn't mean to detract from those who are looking forward to her current tour! go! enjoy!) - -- |Jeffrey C.
