Who's al? :-)

I have been waiting - since Christmas - to get a replacement for a double
fte.  It finally came and it was Michelle Shocked's _The Texas Campfire
tapes_.  Great disc.  I now have all except for the original release of
_Kind Hearted Woman_ and the greatest hits that came out recently.

Since I'm working on the ectoguide page for Michelle Shocked (it's almost
done, Neile), I need the information for the first release of _Kind
Hearted Woman_ and the greatest hits - which includes the proper name. 
Can anyone help?

FWIW, I have *no* discs I would consider embarassing.  My wife owns them
all. ;-)

My first LP was the first put out by Three Dog Night.  I still have it.

My first concert was Maynard Ferguson.  My first "pop" concert was The
Police, for the _Ghost in the Machine_ tour.

Sure wish some of these concerts would come around our way.  Sarah
McLachlan is, but tickets are way outside of my budget.

12-vibrant violinist Lili Haydn had three duties: "Pray, eat a lot of food and
just be cute." Haydn, now 25, retains many images from those days. "Like this

once and said, 'I am the nude son of God!' and then ran down Hollywood
Boulevard naked." 

Such experiences could really twist a young girl's mind. "Yeah," Haydn

needs to expand her horizons as an artist, as well. On Mama she lets loose a
little bit and gets funky, but those moments are few and far between on Lili.
It's obvious that she can play the role of saddened songwriter, but the
potential is there to be so much more. Lili, though, is a fine first step in
the right direction, and Haydn should have plenty of time to get it right.>>

 After a public absence of four years, Michelle Shocked is touring with a new
 collection of songs called Kind Hearted Woman. Shocked is one of those artists
 that's hard to classify. Her intelligent, bitter-sweet lyrics are set to music
 that combines elements of folk, blues, funk, and many other influences. In
 between songs, Shocked told the audience sto
earted Woman was especially touching. "Hard Way"
 is about her running away from home (or being thrown out) when she was
 fifteen. By the end of the song, she had the audience singing the chorus, 'I'm
 not old enough to be on my own but I'm much too old to stay'. She was backed
 up by an excellent band that consisted of a small horn section with a big
 sound, a guitarist and a drummer. Her brother, a fiddler, joined her on-stage
 to perform a version of "Cotton Eye Joe." In "Winter Wheat," Shocked sings
 about her battle with her former record label, whom she sued on the basis that
 they violated the thirteenth amendment to the constitution, which abolished
 slavery. The lyrics "Winter wheat, the grain is groaning on the stem" have
 great importance to her, because she finally won her battle and has released
 Kind Hearted Woman on her new label, Private Music. Midway through the show,
 she sang a bluesey birthday song to one of her bandmember's friends who was in
 the audience. After two hours, she finished the show with a disco funk song
 that had most of the audience shimmying and grooving on the dancefloor.
 Shocked jumped onto the floor and danced with the audience. It was a fitting

 The information given above isn't really correct! It is true that Michelle's
 released this album herself and that you cannot find it in a record store. But
 there is good news: Michelle has re-recorded the album, and the new version
 WILL be available in a couple of weeks (beginning of 1996) I'm not quite sure
 if there are still copies available of this first version - by mail order -
 but if there are, I would not use the address at Redondo Beach. People who are
 interested in this cd can always write me for a more recent address. I almost
 forgot to mention that Kind Hearted Woman is of course a fabulous and touching

 KHW is an outstanding album. You have to listen carefully for at least ten
 times until you will REALLY like it. Michelle Shocked is able to make almost
 any kind of music, all of her albums she has released so far are different,
 but worth listening. Please check out the 'Dead Men Walking' soundtrack and
 Michelles 'Quality of Mercy.'
