As someone who listens to female singers almost exclusively, I can't quite explain what my attraction to Richard is. He's male, his music is more "country"-tinged than most I like, but his songwriting is wonderful. He manages to tell wonderful little stories. I have not been able to get his latest, "Reunion Hill" out of my CD player, but all 3 of his releases Reunion Hill, Sparrow's Point, and Blue Divide are worth getting. >Also, I saw the new relaeses post made earlier (Beautiful South CD whooo >hooo!!), and was wondering if there was a place on the web that had a >collection of new releases? Actually, Billboard gets their information from Ice Magazine, and their release dates aren't split into different weeks (only different categories). I don't know why Billboard decided to split up the release list into a bazillion different pieces. The URL for the Ice Magazine release lists is: http://www.icemagazine.com/docs/release.html Also, CDNOW keeps a new release list that sometimes has some different albums listed. Since they like to keep track of users starting at the main page, I can't give you a direct URL, but go to: http://www.cdnow.com/ and select the New Releases link (under the Weekly Specials section). As for other music information sources, I know that Neile mentioned the tour database Pollstar. Another good one is Musi-Cal, at: http://concerts.calendar.com/ I've written a Perl program (unimaginatively called "tours") that can search both Pollstar and Musi-Cal for tour dates for a given list of artists. The list is taken from a file. All the output is stripped of graphics and dumped into plain tables in a single HTML file. If anyone would like a copy, email me privately and I'll send you one. I have no idea if it would work with the Windows version of Perl, but I'd be glad to work with someone who wanted to try. I probably would have missed a Wild Colonials concert in Atlanta out of ignorance if not for this program, so it's already paid for itself :) Owen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Sep 1997 17:34:38 -0400 From: Gianfranco Covello Subject: Re: Sarah Slean Hi Troy and others :) well i'm brand spanking new to this list, and very happy to be here, i've been following Sarah Slean for some time now, thanks to a good friend Steve Ito. No details for places like Australia, but if it gets delayed, you will always be able to order it from http://www.quinlanroad.com. That website should be updated in just a few days, so if you want to place advance orders, keep looking there. As far as a tour goes, it's looking more and more like there will be no tour until at least the new year.
