It's a brave new world for me, as Pipeline was almost an online service in its comprehensive massiveness. It was also very slow compares to these gizmoes. I tried playing my Trumpet Winsock, and, well never mind! I put Pipeline on the digest till I get secure here. In about two weeks I'll pull the plug there. Thanks to Phillip for the sub/unsub info. Hello people, The format of this file is as follows:
where lat and long are numbers in degrees and minutes (degrees.minutes). The sign refers to polarity, i.e. a negative longitude is degrees West (i.e. the US has a negative longitude, Australia has a positive longitude) and a negative latitude is degrees South, (i.e. the US has a positive latitude, Australia has a negative latitude). If your name appears, but has no coordinates, then it means either (a) I couldn'd find your town in an atlas, or (b) I haven't gotten around to it yet :) In either case, if you can supply it it'd be much appreciated. NOW that i cannot see anyone else >doing as good a job. Sadly, Bernadette has not been approached to play the witch. She's not seen as a film star as much as she is as a stage star (you know how it is, they wouldn't let Patti LuPone in on the film version of Evita, and now, even if they did want her, she's too old). Recently, there was an all-star reading at Penny Marshall's house. I don't remember many of the participants, but what I do remember is: Robin Williams was the Baker, Mayim Bialik was Little Red Riding Hood and Roseanne was Jack's Mother. Robin Williams is said to have been signed for the film (and Sondheim is very pleased with the choice). I will look up the cast list for the staged reading tonight when I get home, and let you know by personal Email tomorrow (unless there's any interest in continuing this thread on ecto). Penny Marshall has just dropped out as director, though, and they're in search of another. The script was adapted from James Lapines' suggested screenplay, and was written by a very successful team. I can't remember one man's name, but the other is Babaloo Mandel. Unfortunately, this is also a Henson production. As in Jim Henson (the Muppets). There are plans for "creatures" in the woods. I say unfortunately, because I don't think it'll work well. But, I've been surprised before... >I did see a video version of this on PBS a year or so ago, Bernadette was >*amazing*! This video is still available on VHS and Laser Disc. It was also recently shown on Bravo. "Passion," Sondheim's latest, has been filmed (using film, and not video) with the original cast, and distribution is being negotiated now. I can picture him in Into the Woods, but I don't know that this is the role I would have chosen for him. As for Roseanne, ick. I don't know enough about Mayim Bialik to comment. Since Bernadette Peters isn't a big enough "star" to play the Witch, who could do it? My vote goes to Tracey Ullman. I don't know if she can sing, but she can do comedy REALLY well. But then again, she's probably not enough of a "star"...* sigh* I'm excited that this is being made into a movie. It'll make a fantastic children's movie, and there aren't enough good musicals in movies anymore. Will Sondheim be working on the music for the film? I assume some numbers will be changed. >Unfortunately, this >is also a Henson production. As in Jim Henson (the Muppets). There are plans >for "creatures" in the woods.
