One of the djs on the only vaguely listenable radio station here was/is rather fond of it. In fact, they played the whole album straight through, one time :) Oh, and I'm almost positive it's not a vinyl-only affair... Now, I'm not sure if I understand if you want someone non-ecto or just someone new, but if you're looking for someone new who *I* would consider ecto in the style, then I would suggest getting Eolian Minstrel, the latest album by Andreas Vollenweider. He's a modern jazz harpist, and his vocalist is Eliza Gilkeson. Many (but not all) of the songs are somewhat Celtic- sounding along the McKinnett line. There's also a song on the album where Carly Simon sings, so if you like that sort of sound you'd probably enjoy this album. This is the first album where there's actually lyrics, so it was a first for Vollenweider. I love his stuff--very Eastern in flavor, much like McKinnett's Mask & Mirror. Anyway...I know this was an old post and I'm sure you've had lots of responses, but I haven't seen anyone mention Vollenweider in the past, so I figured I was safe. :) BTW...I have seen this CD in the used bins, so good luck. Really? I've been interested in "The Mirror Pool" ever since I had heard about it but didn't realize it had been released in the states yet. I thought it had just been released in the UK. Obviously I am mistaken once again. BTW, "Serpent's Egg" is my favorite DCD album. And I agree, I don't think I would miss Brendan's singing much either. It's probably the one part of DCD that I'm not entirely fond of. And yes, I had heard Lisa was going on tour but unfortunately EWS may prevent me from going. Are you a Bel Canto fan by any chance? I'm listening to "Birds of Passage" right now and I can draw a definate parallel to DCD. BoP is the only Bel Canto CD I have but it has really grown on me. It's from an album called "Chantmania", by a group who call themselves the "Benzedrine Monks of Santa Domenico". Basically, the album is a take-off of a real Gregorian Chant album called "Chant". It's very funny. They also do covers of "Losing My Religion", the "Monkees Theme", and a few others that I can't remember, all in true Gregorian chanting style.
