Calamari, brni and Joseph Zitt were talkin bout one of my favorite bands - you know `em, you (may not) love`em etc.etc.... When I found out that Happy's favorite Yes album was Going For The One (or sometimes referred to as Going for the butt....) I just glowed from ear to ear. That album touched my life like few others have (I first heard it when I was 15). Awaken has to be one of my all-time favorite songs by any artist - and for my fickle, eclectic tastes, that says a lot. A few of you might remember my post months ago about the Patrick Moraz concert/Yes Fan license plates, etc. etc. ANYWAY.. (I won't Klaus here...) there was a party full of die-hard Yes fans and we played a "game" of pick your favorite tune and play it - I picked - you guessed it - and those of us that were musically inclined sang along with the record, harmony and all. It was fun to sing Jon's part and have this dude singing Squire's part, at the top of our lungs, etc. etc. ("high vibration go on... to the sun oh let my heart.. dreaming.. past a mortal as me.... where can i be...") (did I ever mention that Rick Wakeman signed my copy of GFTO when I met him a few years ago? *sigh*) I recently picked up the remastered version of Tormato and have played the heck out of "Silent Wings of Freedom". I just wanted to thank brni for his explanations on the stick, and of course it took me this long to do so. But also, since then I have been told that what Trey Gunn plays is a Warr or WARR or something. So it's like a stick, but you can strum the melody strings or something. Can I write "or something" any more times (Hello, Butthead?)? Anyway, you can all chalk me up as one of those who likes Tormato by Yes. I think Release, Release and Future Times/Rejoice are really great. And who can resist the part where Damian Anderson speaks at the end of Circus of Heaven? I don't know if this is news to anyone here, or if anyone actually gives a rat's ass, but I'm going to tell you anyway that Trevor Rabin left Yes, as did Tony Kaye, and they will be replaced by Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman. No, I'm not pulling your leg. I wonder what Happy will think--she's a big Rabin fan. I for one prefer Steve Howe, but that's just me. I think Trevor Rabin did a lot for Yes, but this last album just didn't do anything for me. For the life of me I still don't get why Happy loves Talk so much. It's overblown, and I think Trevor Rabin overblew it, so I'm glad he's gone. Why am I going on about this? I think I'm trying to avoid work, but I don't think I can any longer. Oh, before I go--I know I'm going to regret telling you this Meth, but there is one copy of Hector Zazou's album at Cutler's that I've picked up a couple of times and always ended up putting back. So if you get there before I do, it's yours, and I'm leaving town tomorrow morning for a few days. If we get hold of a 2nd VCR, maybe we can copy it for you. I think they only put out those 3 CD's - I don't think they were all that prolific.
