The new one, "RhodeSongs", seems a good place to start but is not fully representative of Happy's work, emphasizing as it does the mellower aspects of her songs. Try any of them, they're all great! The Chicago ones get recorded over for the next week, and the Kansas City shows are kept by my friend Sue, who records over them too. You might want to try to avoid 8bit characters in your messages--not everyone can handle the way Delphi encodes such things. (At least part of the problem seems to be a couple of 0xb3 characters in the '*** \/ike ***' part of your signature--I've no idea what those are supposed to be, but I believe in ISO-8859-1 they represent a superscript numeral 3--probably not what you intended.) Well, Mike's message demonstrates the modern solution--if the mailer finds any 8bit characters in the message, it wraps the entire message in some completely unreadable 7bit encoding. That's what what the 'Content-Type' and 'Content-Transfer-Encoding' headers mean--we're all supposed to have mail readers that automatically check for those headers and unpack the message into reasonable form. For those who don't (most of us, probably, since MIME is a very recent standard), here's what metamail made of that message: ---Executing: shownonascii This message contains non-ASCII text, which can only be displayed properly if you are running X11. What follows may be partially unreadable, but the English (ASCII) parts should still be readable. Name: Mike DePumpo Abode: Land of Nelmst (in Manchester, CT) Birthday: A black date in history: Abraham Lincoln died, the Titanic sank, I was born, and you have to have your income taxes sent in (April 15) Shoe Size: extra medium Mother's second cousin's wife's brother's daughter's middle name: don't tell me you forgot already! Quest: to seek ... good music! Airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow: African or European? I play keyboards (Ensoniq and Roland for those who care). I also have one of those wooden things with wires on it... you know, a guitar. But I'm much more proficient on keys. I like to compose music (some would say decompose!) I listen to quite a variety of music, such as the Beatles, Todd Rundgren, Peter Gabriel, Adrian Belew, Peter Hammill, ELP, King Crimson, XTC, Lindsey Buckingham (and Fleetwood Mac), Led Zep, Robert Fripp, Marillion, Mike Oldfield, Yes, Genesis (the older the better!), Anthony Phillips, Pink Floyd, They Might Be Giants... but that's not why we're here. I ALSO like to listen to Kate Bush, the Cocteau Twins, and as of about 10 hours ago...Happy Rhodes! (Now that's why we're here) As I've mentioned to Vickie, I just recently heard about ecto from love_hounds. It sounded interesting, in spite of the fact that I never heard of Happy. (Forgive my ignorance). So, I've been reading about all of you raving about Happy, and decided that ignorance is NOT bliss! I went to Brass City Records, who's owner I knew to be a big Kate Bush fan. The store always has really cool stuff. And sure enough, there was a whole slew of Happy Rhodes discs! I had been concerned about finding any, because a lot of you talk about having trouble finding Happy's stuff. I arbitrarily picked Equipoise for my first purchase. When I went up to the counter to buy it, the sales guy lit up and got all excited about my selection. He gave me a little background on Happy, and thanked me for supporting her. Well, I finally got home, wondering if my money was well spent. It was! I hadn't been quite sure what to expect, but the songs were great. I'm looking forward to getting more of Happy's material. Well, I've rambled long enough.
