I've been hinting for a while that I've been planning to make an "Ectokoku", a rokaku (6 sided japanese fighting kite) with that graphic appliqued onto the surface. Including white and black, it looks like I'll have either 4 or 5 colors of fabric to use for the kite (2 or 3 shades of blue, of course!). What I want to do is try whatever processing was done to the ecto.gif to create the ecto_pg.gif, but to do it for either 4 or 5 distinct colors. Is there anybdoy who would be able to perform these operations for me and send me the resulting GIF files? I'm afraid that the image will become too complex to work with with 5 colors, and possibly even 4, but I'd like the option of trying it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did it to make a design for the T-shirts! I can easily make what could be used as a 4 or 5 color design - I'll work on it tomorrow (I haven't got any graphics capablilities at home) and will post again when they are ready :) jessica ======================================================================== Date: Mon, 9 Nov 92 2:02:20 EST From: WretchAwry Subject: Today's your birthday friend... HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Steve "Skaludy" Potter! (Sure are a ton of 28 year olds on Ecto. I never went through a crisis when I turned 30 because I went through that at 28. 28 seemed *SO* _close_ to 30 I really had a rough time there. When I actually turned 30 it wasn't so bad because I'd gotten the "OH NO!ness" out of my system. Any other 28s experiencing this, I feel for you, I really do. Rest assured that it will make 30 all that much easier to handle.) Replying to my own post... > Arkansas and Kansas are two different states. They're close to each ... > Kansas though, I was born and raised there. Not all flat...saw the best ...Kansas City, which is in Missouri! (Actually, it's right on the border, and there is a Kansas City, Kansas too, but it's not as big or as well-known as KCMO. I was born and raised about 40 miles north of the Kansas Cities, lived in both KCKS and KCMO, and much prefer KCMO. Now, didn't it just make your day to know that?? :-) Vickie ps to make this somewhat interesting, I bought the new Sundays tonight (another chapter in the same book, not a different book. If you liked the first one you should like this one.) and the new Shona Laing (uneven, very uneven. I don't recommend it unless I change my mind after more listens) and the new Shawn Colvin (haven't listened to it yet.) I also got the Siouxsie+ video compilation _Twice Upon A Time_ which I've been waiting for for *ages*! I haven't watched it yet, but it has Dear Prudence and Dazzle on it.....oh bliss....it has Dear Prudence & Dazzle! Sorry Jeff....I also got Suzanne Vega (I'd previously had a dub from Klaus--see, I am the kind of person who'll buy the CD even if I have a dub. And...got the new Big Hat (called _Inamorata_, it has the following songs: I Was Happy Stories Flowerbox Fossil Red Line (Dinosaur Mix) Country Death Song (live) I Was Sad Like We Used to Do Throwing the Olden I'm So Happy Things Go Around I haven't listened to it yet. It's on March Records, P.O Box 578396, Chicago, IL 60657 And (yes, there's more!) I also picked up at a used record store or in the cutout bins: Lori Russo (??never heard of her, but for $1.99...) The Ringling Sisters ("Kimberly Rose" worth the CD. Rest uneven though) Jean Michael Jarre's Zoolook (has Laurie Anderson, it's worth it.) Lush's Gala (had a dub from Adrian, needed the CD real bad) Kirsten Vaupel's Vinter, a Vinter (Danish Winter Songs. Hey, for $1.99 I'm going to pass up Danish Winter songs? No way...) I'll post what I think of Shawn, Lori & Kirsten. Has anyone heard of Sofia somebody (I've seen her CD a few times and I never can remember her last name) or heard the new Sugarcubes remix album? I almost bought both of them but put them back after finding other things. ======================================================================== Date: Mon, 09 Nov 92 08:50:48 +0000 From: Terry Partis Subject: Happy Birthday Many Happy returns and have a great day, Steve Potter on 9th. I wonder if I should start worrying about turning 38. :) Or maybe I'll start panicking now, since 38 isn't that far away. :) Martin parenthetically asked: (I take it this is some sort of referendum you people had at the same time as the presidential election? Could someone fill in us foreigners on it's details? It would make the recent discussion a little easier to follow.) Nov 3rd was a day of general elections all across the US. I voted on issues from as broad as the President of the US to my local city councilman. Amendment Two was proposed as an amendment to the Colorado state constitution, which was placed on the election ballot by a group which gathered enough signatures on a petition. Since a majority of voters approved the amendment, it becomes part of the state constitution. Neither the state of Colorado nor any of the "subsidiary units" (counties, cities, etc.) can have a gay rights law. Lawsuits will soon be filed claiming that this violates other parts of the state constitution or federal law. Such initiative processes don't exist in all US states, but they are quite common and active in the West, which includes Colorado and Oregon. In Colorado, we voted on 12 constitutional amendments, nine placed on the ballot by citizen initiatives. Of those nine, five covered legalizing gambling in one way or another (all conflicting, of course :) ), one each on tax limitation, gay rights, 1% sales tax increase for education, and school vouchers. It does make for a long ballot, as mine was eleven pages long! California's is usually even longer. As for the post-Two fallout, the debate is currently centered on the economic boycott. One side (mostly outside Colorado) wants to boycott everything Coloradan. The other side (mostly inside Colorado) want to support the cities (Denver, Boulder, and Aspen) whose gay rights laws were overturned. For example, Aspen holds its fourth annual National Gay Ski Week (That probably is not the right name, but it's close :) ) this week (or next? (Where is my Denver Post when I need it? :) )). It usually attracts about 4000 gay skiers, but the boycott apparently will cut that in half. This debate obviously concerns the musical artists performing in the state, as 99% of the concerts in Colorado are in Denver and Boulder. Also the pro-boycott forces want to expand the boycott to all Chrysler products nationally, simply because the head of the organization which promoted Two owns a Chrysler dealership.... The lawsuits to overturn Two will be filed Wednesday.... I was given another one at the concert as a gift for my nameday (a greek tradition) which is a collection of winter songs and carols, with solo voice and harp, but I haven't had the time to listen to it enough to appreciate it fully. But indeed the concert was one of the best I have ever seen. There is something about those mediterranean rhythms and the celtic sounds that moves me and the concert was brilliant from that point of view. The use of percussion was also amazing. The song is on the Bobs' eponymous, award-winning, first CD. BTW, I too will second the motion to allow political discussions here (not that anyone has *dis*approved yet).
