Talked to the Kevinmeister tonight, I called to pass along Jim's message, but he'd already been in contact (thanks, whoever sent him H&K's phone #.) H&K are working on the previously mentioned CD single, which will be a promotion-only release, going out to radio stations everywhere. It will have: Feed the Fire (album version) Feed the Fire (acoustic version) I Say (album version) Ashes to Ashes (acoustic) Save Our Souls (acoustic) There will be 1000 of these printed up, and when they're gone, that's it, no more, they're Goldmine material. THE GOOD NEWS: Kevin said that they would hold back a couple hundred to be offered for sale **TO ECTOPHILES ONLY**. Isn't life wonderful? (Bob, you'd better get the rest of those Prodigy folks over here :-)) 5 No ETA as of yet. It will be called HR They HAVE A DISTRIBUTOR IN CANADA! Trend is the name of it, and they'll be supplying stores such as Sam the Record Man. Equipoises are going out to radio stations all over Canada. They actually hired a radio station promotion company to send the CDs out, so Canadaphiles, pick up those phones... John Tesh is a Happy fan! He and Leeza Gibbons (Entertainment Tonight) are going to be producing a new entertainment show, heavily focused on music. Keep your fingers crossed. Equipoise made it to #47 on the Hard Report Adult Alternative chart. Warpaint will very shortly be released in South Africa on the REA label, distributed by EMI. They've sold about 6000 Equipoises so far. Most, of course, going to distributors. Rhodes I, Rhodes II and Rearmament are going into their 2nd printing. Ecto is in the second printing already, and are about half gone. (Each printing is 1000 CDs.) THE 1st4 *CASSETTES* are NO LONGER AVAILABLE, and there are no plans at this time to make "official" copies. (Didja, didja, didja hear me tell tales of certain "collector's items" at one time? Now I wish I had all the ones I bought and gave away back. None of the people I gave them to actually became fans anyway.) Klaus! Birthday list alert... Shorty turned 13 on April 1. T-Bone turned 1 on April 15. Barney Parker turned 7 on May 2. HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAYS to the kitty cats!! H&K actually live in Bearsville, rather than Woodstock. They're in heavenly happiness at their new place. The Albany P.O. Box will exist forever, since it's in the liner notes of the 6 CDs. Kevin checks it about once a week. Kevin's all-time favorite musical hero is Peter Hamill! (I didn't know that until tonight.) brni, Kevin's also a huge Gong fan. Happy was asleep, but I should be talking to her in the next few days. (I had sent her a Gary Oldham as Dracula action figure--I'm not kidding-- and I take it she liked it! :-)) They sent copies of Equipoise to Wynona Rider and Francis Ford Coppola. I mentioned to Kevin about Neil Jordan directing Interview With A Vampire and he knew about it already. Where oh where oh where can I find Neil Jordan's address!?! Kevin hadn't heard about the Tower Best Seller thingy. I'm going to fax him your post Jeff. Interesting. I saw Peter Hammill live in 1982 and I was totally blown away. The power and intensity of the show was undescribable. Peter Hammill is another one of the greats, who has had absolutely no commercial success. Unfortunately, I only have three albums of his (of which my favorite is Sitting Targets). I wonder if Happy and Kevin would be interested in a dub of 'The house of Usher', which is my second favourite Hammill album. >Kevin hadn't heard about the Tower Best Seller thingy. The 10,000 maniacs did an excellence show doing about 4 songs at the beginning of the show and 4 at the end. This was the first time I had ever heard Zap Mama. Their songs were the highlight of the show. They are a 5 women vocal only group doing mostly african style song with many european influences. Watching them intertwine their voices was amazing. I brought their CD and I have been listening to it all day. I really enjoyed it. This Mountain Stage Show should be rebroadcast in a couple of weeks. Look for on some Public Radio stations. She's matured too, and she sounded like she wanted to focus more on acting... (I should say that I was channel surfing and just HAPPENED to see this... :) ) On another topic, has anyone here read any Carlos Castaneda?? This is > interesting; Um, I think it must certainly be the same Happy... sounds way too similar to be otherwise. I'd guess he's just misremembering the first name. As for Record Exchange, it was just the evanston branch that went under: in fact the stock got redistributed to the other branches. And, the store will still be a record store: Dr. Wax is opening an evanston branch. So it's not a total loss. The guy that owned RX was a big Katefan, he even attended a Katemas at C&V's one year. I'm not sure exactly where he will be next but I know he ran a record store in Carbondale before he came to Ev so I suspect he will stay in that biz. Vickie, any thoughts on this topic? I forget the fellow's name. I guess the competition with 2nd hand-tunes was too great... perhaps Dr. Wax will rev up that competition. Supposed to open June 1 I believe. -mjm ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 13 May 1993 16:04:54 -0500 From: jim@medinah.atc.ucarb.com Subject: Robyn Hitchcock Drewcifer asked me: >How was Robyn, BTW? :) On the Mountain Stage Show, Robyn did some very energetic song.
