You bet this question has been asked before! Several times. The defeaning silence with which it has been greeted on each ocasion implies that nobody knows! When I bought Warpaint I sent $20 and didn't get any complaints. I guess I'll just have to send them $80 for the 1st4, though I'm sure that's far more than is necessary. Then again any excess cash will be going to support a very good cause! :-) Actually five CDs probably cost about the same to post as seven cassettes, so maybe Doug can recall how much he had to pay for the package he sent me... On the other hand surely somebody Stateside could stick five CDs in a mailer, bung 'em on the scales, work out how much postage that requires, add in the cost of a mailer, and post the result to the list, no? You could always write to H&K and ask (enclosing an International Reply Coupon)... -- Regards Steve Fagg ( S.L.Fagg@bnr.co.uk +44-279-402437 ) BNR Europe Ltd., London Road, Harlow, Essex, CM17 9NA, UK *** "Better drowned than duffers. Redux To answer Angelos' query, the fragments Casey Kasem ran of the "bikini" video for DIWIWYL were indeed in color. I can't recall for sure, but some parts of the at least principally B&W "plaid" version may have been as well. (Whether there were or not made no difference in how the unveneered cap on Sophie's back tooth looked on camera :-).) I'm wondering if they deemed it advisable to shoot a "cold" (read: plaid) version as a hedge against some outlets being reluctant to run the "hot" (read: bikini) version during the Family Hour :-). Naturally, as an old transit freak (ah there, Justin Bur :-) ) my curiosity about all of this doesn't hold a candle to my curiosity about which elevated route was involved in the initial shot of the cold version, at least (was it also in the hot version?). Mitch ======================================================================== From: kyrlidis@athena.mit.edu Subject: stuph Date: Wed, 27 May 92 13:31:15 EDT Hi, Let me start by stating that I am suffering from extreme 1st4-itis, with symptoms like not leaving home in the morning until the mail has come, to make sure the postperson doesn't accidentally leave a package from AG outside thereby increasing the chances that it will get stolen by the time I return home at night. :) Mitch confirms that I was not hallucinating (Thanks Mitch!) and adds: >I'm wondering if they deemed it advisable >to shoot a "cold" (read: plaid) version as a hedge against some outlets being >reluctant to run the "hot" (read: bikini) version during the Family Hour :-). I don't know what to say about that. In the Rolling Stone mini (5 line) article about Sophie, she claims to be totally blown away by the attention her album is getting her, and her trying to not become a music business 'whore'. In other Sophie related stuff, she ran away from home at the tender age of 10 and moved in with a bunch of 'eccentric musicians'. She also paints, since the non-pictures parts of the CD booklet (the multi-colored stripe-like paintings) were attributed to her. I wonder what B. stands for. Kevin was pretty excited :) * recording for the new album begins in July! studio time is already booked, so they can't do a KaTe on us and delay another 3 years... ;) * on the down side, this means it is very unlikely that they will perform this summer -- Kevin is talking about releasing the new album then going on a real tour to support it... the Iron Horse concert fell through do to lack of time :( :( :( and the place they were gonna play at in new jersey FELL DOWN (!) and has not been reapproved for public use!! I'm taking a break from my packing, partying, and being generally amused by the actions of my classmates (one Valerie "oops" Nozick in particular ;) to relate to you all this amusing anecdote. You may remember the reports in these pages recently describing our feeble attempts to light the fire for grilling at our Ecto-gathering on Sunday, culminating in the flambeing of the coals in rum. Well, upon relating this to my sister, who among other things is an incorrigible gourmet, the first thing she said was, "Oh, you should have used cognac. It would have given you the prettiest fuzzy blue flame!" Something to keep in mind, yes?
