Some time ago, I claimed the song _Cymbeline_ from Loreena McKennitt's album _The Visit_ for the HBP. I didn't know then about the song _Lullaby_ from her first album _Elemental_ (thanks Beth! :-), but now I can't decide which one to choose, so I have to claim both now until I'm sure. If there's anyone who wants to use one of these as their own choice for the HBP, I'd be happy to select the other one. >From the FAQ: > The deadline for the next such project, the HBP, will be June 1, 1992. > All tapes with messages/songs on them must be received by that date. By whom??? Since all ectophiles have had a fair chance now to order Happy's first four albums on CD and a Tea-Shirt, don't we think it's time to start advertising them on gaffa and rec.music.misc? One of the first things I posted here is a transcription of the lyrics to the Bartlett\Rhodes demo _Love's Sabotage_. I think this is an essential song (which one isn't?), because Happy makes clear to us that she has basically a humanistic (thanks again Beth! :-) view on life, which is a wonderful thing, IMHO. I never received any response to my request for corrections. Does this mean that I was completely correct to begin with? Just drop me a note if you want me to send you the lyrics. This Georgia native took one man and one clean electric guitar as far as it would go. When Happy and her band took the stage the room was jammed with people who, judging from the applause, had waited a long time to see her play live. As they began I was impressed with the way they duplicated the sound of her studio work in a live setting. Drummer Mark Foster and bassist Jay Jung worked wonders with the sequenced percussion. The keyboards were flawlessly supplied by Kevin Bartlett and Martha Waterman who both played double roles as guitarist and backing vocals respectively. Martha and additional vocalist Kelly Bird did a wonderful job of tackling Happy's vocal harmonies. However, I must say that being familiar with her albums I longed for a couple of Happy clones on backing vocals as she has a distinct vocal quality that compliments herself when overdubbed in the studio. As for the music, we were treated to all but two songs from the Warpaint CD as well as three new songs entitled "Mother Sea", "He Will Come", and "The Flight" which if they are any indication of what the rest of of the new album will sound like, I can't wait! Some of the other material appears on her other cassettes "Rhodes Vol. I", "Rhodes Vol. II", "Rearmament", and "Ecto" which will be released on compact disc the first week in May. I've heard Happy's vocals described too many times as "haunting." As far as I'm concerned this is a highly abused adjective which describes hundreds of other vocalists. In order to compare her to the others I would have used the word "terrifying." _____ Mark Bianchino --- * SLMR 2.0 * Quien con perros se acuesta con pulgas se levanta. ---- Tracy Barber tlb@bsbbs.columbus.oh.us {n8emr|nstar}!bluemoon!bsbbs!tlb The Big Sky BBS (+1 614 864 1198) ======================================================================== Subject: Re: ecto #227 From: tlb@bsbbs.columbus.oh.us (Tracy Barber) Date: Sun, 03 May 92 01:40:05 EDT EC>Date: Wed, 29 Apr 92 18:51:06 EDT EC>From: Chris Sampson EC>Subject: A_NEW_ECTOPHILE EC>Hello........
