Actually, as far as the previous albums go, I must admit to be being a bit of a closet Happy-doubter. They seemed to contain some great songs, and some magical moments, but not be consistant enough or adventurous enough to count as really great albums as a whole. You lie a great deal. On the other hand, you are inclined to be careless and impractical, causing you to make the same mistakes over and over again. People think you are stupid. ARIES (Mar 21 - Apr 19) You are the pioneer type and hold most people in contempt. You are quick tempered, impatient, and scornful of advice. You are not very nice. CANCER (June 21 - July 22) You are sympathetic and understanding to other people's problems. They think you are a sucker. You are always putting things off. That's why you'll never make anything of yourself. Most welfare recipients are Cancer people. CAPRICORN (Dec 23 - Jan 19) You are conservative and afraid of taking risks. You don't do much of anything and are lazy. There has never been a Capricorn of any importance. Capricorns should avoid standing still for too long as they take root and become trees. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20) You are a quick and intelligent thinker. People like you because you are bisexual. However, you are inclined to expect too much for too little. This means you are cheap. Geminis are known for committing incest. LEO (July 23 - Aug 22) You consider yourself a born leader. Others think you are pushy. Most Leo people are bullies. You are vain and dislike honest criticism. Your arrogance is disgusting. Leo people are thieves. LEO (July 23 - Aug 22) Your determination and sense of humor will come to the fore. Your ability to laugh at adversity will be a blessing because you've got a day coming you wouldn't believe. As a matter of fact, if you can laugh at what happens to you today, you've got a sick sense of humor. LIBRA (Sept 23 - Oct 22) You are the artistic type and have a difficult time with reality. If you are a man, you are more than likely gay. Chances for employment and monetary gains are excellent. Most Libra women are prostitutes. All Libra people die of venereal disease. PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) You have a vivid imagination and often think you are being followed by the CIA or FBI. You have minor influence over your associates and people resent your flaunting of your power. You lack confidence and you are generally a coward. Pisces people do terrible things to small animals. SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22 - Dec 21) You are optimistic and enthusiastic. You have a reckless tendency to rely on luck since you lack talent. The majority of Sagittarians are drunks or dope fiends or both. People laugh at you a great deal. SCORPIO (Oct 23 - Nov 21) You are shrewd in business and cannot be trusted. You will achieve the pinnacle of success because of your total lack of ethics. Most Scorpio people are murdered. TAURUS (Apr 20 - May 20) You are practical and persistent. You have a dogged determination and work like hell. Most people think you are stubborn and bull headed. You are a Communist. VIRGO (Aug 23 - Sept 22) Learn something new today, like how to spell or how to count to ten without using your fingers. Be careful dressing this morning. You may be hit by a car later in the day and you wouldn't want to be taken to the doctor's office in some of that old underwear you own. VIRGO (Aug 23 - Sept 22) You are the logical type and hate disorder. This nitpicking is sickening to your friends. You are cold and unemotional and sometimes fall asleep while making love. Virgos make good bus drivers. ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 3 Mar 93 07:09:02 EST From: woj@remus.rutgers.edu (l.l. cool bean) WretchAwry sez: >Is there a *new* Mitch in the house? *Please* e-mail me, I have >questions for you. which reminds me, if andrew lohmann ever was able to subscribe to the list, introduce yourself! barry@gnu.ai.mit.edu (Barry Wong) sez: >Also picked up a clannad cd, but I think it's old, but while I was up paying >for the cd's the clerk told me there was a new clannad cd going on sale >tomorrow. Subject: Happy Rhodes Hello, I'm new at this.:-) Record Theater in Buffalo (where I reside at the moment) has a slot for Happy Rhodes which contains Warpaint and Equipoise. I was wondering if anyone out there could recommend one of those for a first listen... I've been on the mailing list for a few weeks because I have heard of Happy and I wanted to find out more about her before buying any of her work. When I heard about the release of Equipoise I rushed down to the record store and hey! There was Warpaint! They didn't know who she was a year ago. I stopped by again and Equipoise had joined Warpaint. (Warpaint is also available on cassette at Record Theater). Needless to say I'm going down there with my paycheck to pick one up. What I have heard about her from this list has only increased my interest in her music. Would anyone out there have a suggestion? thanks, Quenby Chunco v115p8d6@ubvms.cc.buffalo.edu ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 03 Mar 1993 10:33:30 EST From: Chris Sampson Subject: DOLMADES, PASTITSIO, AVGOLEMONO, AND OTHER GREEK FOODS Martin says: >Angelos says: >>But can she resist my newly improved home made spinach/cheese pie and >>pastitsio? >I know I certainly couldn't! Lotso people like her: > Seconded! I thought she was great in _My Cousin Vinny_, and after > seeing this movie last week I think I'm in love. :} She and Slater > do make a cute couple. I must agree with all these comments... you know, she reminds me of the woman who plays the receptionist in Civil Wars... I often get them mixed up. Rosanna Arquette was on Leno last night. Strange that she was on within 5 days of PG. Would've been bizarre if they were both on the same show (not!). She mentioned that she lived in France for 5 years, but that she went for Scottish men. Hmmmmm.... I wonder who she could have been referring to. I don't know what it is but there is something about her that is so enamouring. Anyways, her appearance prompted me to re-watch the Gabriel segment from a few nights ago. He is *so* awesome. I do not exaggerate. My first impression in seeing him was that he was tired, worn out, and depressed. I still basically stand by that, but just watching him sing WotW -- he is so expressive, so emotional, and looks very hurt. I guess I cannot help but empathize. What an amazing performance! I will have to watch it some more. And I sure hope he tours, though it must be painful to sing some of those songs. Listening to US again, I think that Kiss that Frog, not a horrible song, just does not fit in with the general theme and feel of the album. Even Steam fits better (though not as well as virtually all the other songs -- the first one doesn't fit that well either, perhaps). It is a fine album though. Flipping channels later, I caught the tail end of Nancy Griffith on Letterman. I *love* Nancy Griffith. I don't have any idea why. I saw her in concert last year and was blown away even more. After that, who should show up but none other than Marisa T. Which brings us full circle. She was totally cute and funny -- her hair was boinging around and Dave fixed it. It was kinda funny. I'll have to see that new movie now. She did seem very young, though. And small. -mjm ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 3 Mar 93 12:29:18 EST From: kosky@saul.cis.upenn.edu (Anthony Kosky) Subject: ecto #472 Bob Lovejoy wrote: > Mitch - WRT Cohabitants and Psychiatric imagery: Although this is >not new to Happy (To The Funny Farm, Out From Under Me, Asylum Master et al), >there is also the sci-fi theme of an interdimensional traveller. Talking of which, is John Windham unknown/un-read in the US? I don't seem to have come across any of his books here, even the most popular ones such as Day Of The Triffids. This strikes a strange since I always thought of him as amongst the most famous (and best) of all SF writers, on par with Bradbury and the like. >Chip suggested I check with U. of Penn to see if they offer public >access via modem...
