Hi! This will probably be the last you'll hear from me until after the party. I wish I had more time to respond to you all, but I will have hardly any time to even read mail before the party. I'll arrive Friday evening at Klaus'. I feel I've changed a lot form the shy person I was, generally disinterested in other people, since I started listening to Happy's music. Writing to ecto has sped up the process considerably. Expect to meet someone at the party who hardly knows himself anymore. Hi Chip! See you!!! Hi Frumpy :-) I have Happy, of course, by the Blackgirls. I found it in a used record store. I can't believe how someone could have brought it there. A combined Warpaint/Happy review can be found somewhere in the ecto files. One of the things I learned from listening to Happy, is that it is right to use one's full intelligence when dealing with emotions. However, my full description will be delayed. It will take a few days just to read through the 96 e-mail messages (188K) I returned to. It will take a few days just to write up the trip description. It will take me a few days from catching up on my sleep! However, it will not just be another concert description. Stay tuned for the story of how Doug and Vickie terrorized the Northeast (and vice versa). Yet I still wanted to let people know I was back, so put together this hodge- podge of notes, public thank you's, and a Happy story to whet your appetite for my future posts! To Jody Ferguson, Ron Hill, Christine (whom I met in Philadelphia), Tracy of Big Sky, Peter Kulawec, and anyone else who has joined in the last week or two, ... a very warm fuzzy blue welcome!! What an exciting time to come on board!!! (I also apologize for any mis-spellings, as this list comes from memory just seeing it at Jessica's Friday). To Vickie, ... many thanks for putting up with me for the three days between the two shows. I enjoyed your company immensely. How did so much happen in such a short time? To Jessica, ... thank you for putting me (and Vickie) up Friday night and showing us the hallowed computers 'athos' (soon to be inducted into the Ecto Hall of Fame) and 'hardees' (which really is named after the restaurant!) and the fuzzy blue (well, hard silver) post office box. To Mark Carroll, ... thank you, thank you for putting me (and Jeff Burka and the Ecto-mobile mob (I hope someone has posted about that warm fuzzy gray van already)) up Saturday night. I'm sorry I didn't get to thank you before I left, or even say good-bye to you and my fellow roomees. To anyone who attended either the Albany or Philadelphia show, ... it was great meeting you, placing a face on the e-mail address. I'm sorry if I missed anyone and that I didn't have a good chance to talk with most of you. I felt a touch of sadness this morning when I realized I wouldn't be seeing any of you today. To any Suspended in Gaffa fans, ... Vickie gave me five compilation tapes, a tape of one show, and the World Cafe interview. I will post instructions on how to get copies within the next week, including a full contents listing. To anyone I owe e-mail to, ... it may take me a few days to catch up on everything, but I'll get around to you eventually. Until then, enjoy the upcoming trip descriptions! (Ob Happy (but when has the lack ever stopped me before! :) )) the promised Happy story, Happy and band drove from Albany to Philadelphia on Friday. As they pulled into a toll plaza, WXPN was playing "Waking Up" (Happy is still very uncomfortable hearing herself on the radio). While backup singer Kelly Bird pointed to Happy yelling "That's her! That's her!", Happy made the Warpaint sign. The toll taker (obviously a cultural troglodyte :) ) didn't recognize it. Happy probably would have suffered massive heart failure if he had! (As it was, the cashier at Eden's, where we ate before the concert, was a Happy fan). Now on to reading the mass of words you all (and a few others with actual work for me to do!) left on my computer in the last week! I'd like to thank the kind people at WXPN for She scribbled doen three things, scratched out the two and used the third. What did she say?? a) deluging you with my music b) playing my music c) giving me the chance to be heard. She introduced Kevin as: 'Ms. Nana Mouskouri, also known as Kevin Bartlett' (!! :-)) *4 Shakespeare's sister She mentioned that WtIC was inspired from 'Midsummer's night dream', and introduced it as a 'lesser known' piece of art.
