But for right now i just love the way they go around in all directions.. I'd the most unique thing is the lyric style, both the words and the way they're sung. mmmmmm one good thing about getting more familiar with the lyrics will be being able to sing them, these are all good challenges as songs to sing! Mmmm i have to go do more work :( more tomorrow ;) jessica ======================================================================== Date: Tue, 14 Jan 92 01:19:53 -0500 From: Nimue - Gwragedd Annwn Subject: HI ALL! To address some current things... First, Heloos & warm fuzzy blue welcomes to Stephen Golden (we should call you "Jokey" because there are 4 other Steve-types in Ecto) and also to Riikka Perttu, sister of...yep....Perttu! I just wrote him a letter saying how embarrassed I was that I've *always* called him "Perttu" because I thought it was a first name. It's as if I'd been saying "Burks" or "Bossert" all along, I've been rude and didn't even know it. Darn! Anyway, hi to Riikka (what a cool name!) and welcome to Ecto, both of you. I can't remember if I said it publicly, but thanks to Brian Gregory for saying such nice things about my playlists, I'm so glad that they did help you and others because at the time I was posting them, I seemed to get into trouble with them more than anything. I appreciate all the fine feedback. Over and over again, I resolve to start posting them again, but I never do (just a few weeks ago, I said I'd post the Christmas list and I didn't, I apoligise about that) and I still might, but I hate to break promises, so I can't promise. Still, I'm glad they helped a lot of people. woj said: > well, i have an excellent dubbing walkman, which i will have with me at > the show. as long as happy doesn't care, i will record the show and dub > copies for any ectophiles who wish copies (or perhaps make a send-around > tape if too many people ask me for dubs). normally, i am not too scrupu- > lous about who i dub and whether or not the artist cares, but i think i > can make an exception in this case. Bring it. I talked to Kevin this evening and he said "talk to Happy" and I will. I don't know what she'll say, but I know what I'll say, and that's that the concert *will* be taped, that's all there is to it. More about this after I've talked to Happy herself. As I suspected, H&K have nothing to do with the ticket prices, but they are making money, so it won't be a "all the money goes into the promoter's pocket" situation. That money will go to the band and to pay for their expenses, and any extra will go to Aural Gratification and we know that all the money they make goes into paying the bills. > of course, it would be really nice if they decided to record it to dat or > something like that and release a live album or some such thing. :) i tend > to doubt that that will happen though (the live album that is - i would be > surprised if they *didn't* record it to dat or some such medium). They are going to record the concert but I don't have the info on that yet. As usual, I only had a few minutes to talk to Kevin, but he said something very interesting and that is...they are trying to set up dates in Boston, Wash. DC, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City and Dallas. You will be kept informed, but they probably won't come immediately after the Philly show. The 2000 Warpaints they just got recently are almost gone, they have about 400 left. Kevin's getting ready for a 4th printing. Yay! I forgot to get a total number of Warpaints sold, but I will. A guess would be nearly 6000 now, but DON'T QUOTE ME. It's definitely no more than that. Happy will be playing in Albany March 18 (Wednesday) at the QEII. No more details yet (Kevin wasn't sure of the time, he guessed 10:00pm) and he couldn't remember the exact address (he guessed 8 Central Ave.) but the show itself is a definite. Claudia, they will not be playing any dates before you leave, I'm so sorry. That's about it in news. The camera situation will have to be ok'ed by Happy to, so I really can't give you any information about that either. Jokey, I didn't see your post until after I'd talked to Kevin, but you are on the right track and you have some good ideas. I'll get back to you on that. That's it for Happy right now. More at the end. woj on Big Hat's Shimmer: > >If you post a track listing for Shimmer first, > > erotomania/jesus/red line/pluck song/flower/you lied/limosine/leaning into > western skies/glossolalia/seaside/skin/when did you stop?/garden of edith/ > seaside (vortex mix) Here's the track listing for Hat Head: Garden of Edith, When Did You Stop, Skin, Things Go Around, Ertomania, Like We Used To Do, Throwing The Olden, Leaning Into (Western Skies), You Lied and (I'm So) Happy. They are all different mixes than Shimmer's. > there has been some troubles at the nsfnet-janet gateway. this gateway serves Thanks for the information, I was getting worried. Jessica, I can't wait to see the T-shirts, I'm sure that if all the Ectophiles wear theirs at the concert, it will make an impression. Plus, Happy will be able to spot "us" right away. Did I say "us"? Well, it's almost completely 50% certain that Chris and I will go. Maybe. :-) It's definitely on the "things we'd like to do in March" list. Written in red, circled a few dozen times and underlined about a thousand...! Doug, I liked your idea about meeting at another concert, how about Chicago? Whenever that will be. Because I didn't talk to Happy, I can't say about her meeting with Ectophiles before or after the Philly show, but Kevin knows about it and wants to be kept informed on when and where. I'm sure he'll mention it to Happy before I get a chance to. Court, welcome back from vacation! Tell us all your travels. Alan, have a nice time in Boston, I'm glad you're able to keep up (pretty much) with Ecto while you're back home. When do you go back to Zimbabwe? I'll be back... I don't No, it's fine. Still don't know the songs, but the variety surely adds up to my curiousness. Let's see how many of those do I actually know? Any thoughts from those of you that > know her? I asked her to consider doing audio and video recording of concerts in my birthday letter to her, but she did not comment on this topic. Valerie mentioned Rocket Man: Still haven't heard that song on german radio. Had to go all the way to Boston to hear it. My office mate Jeremy says that BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service of Germany) is playing it though. Today, I saw the video for it the first time. While flipping through the channels I noticed that familiar face and familiar voice on the 2nd dutch channel. Did not miss a lot, the reggea part was just about to start. I do like the song and the video, maybe because I'm not very familiar with the original version. Valerie: > now i'll come down from my platform. after all, this is a group about *happy*, > not musicals, right? I'm thinking about that too, I'd frame it! Has someone seen the ticket? How does it look like? Just the name and details of the event, or some picture? Court probably spoke for all european ectophiles: > more later...i am jealous of the concert...but hopefully i will be in But we could all try to work it out together. Claudia and I would be pleased to host an european-ectophile-AAAUGH-we-could-not-see-the-concert- consolation-party in Wuppertal/Germany somewhere in the time between 20. March and 12. April? Chances are good that we can even welcome an american ectophile at that place and that time. Are there some more vagabonds listening who like this idea? Well, I will miss that concert, but I've just found out about another one where I still hope to get a ticket for. On Feb. 2. Rainbirds will play in Cologne! My fault. > all along, I've been rude and didn't even know it. Darn! Anyway, hi to > Riikka (what a cool name!) and welcome to Ecto, both of you. Hi Riikka, you must be the northermost Ectophile. Any snow yet in Lapland? Re: Ticket prices I think Happy for $15.75 is bargain. At least here. Last time Suzanne Vega toured in Finland tickets were 160 marks, that is about $40. I saw her in a sold out venue of 1700 here in Tampere. And Happy's better than Suzanne.
