Well, there is a Southeast Ectophile, if you really want to stretch it: me. My parents live in Florida, which is where I'll be spending the holidays (and if I'm out of luck, the rest of my life until I get a job after college, too :P). Connecticut is where I go to school, but since I was born in Maine I'll always be a New Englander at heart. :) Actually, I was thinking of taking my copy of _Warpaint_ down to WFIT at the Florida Institute of Technology when I go home, and see if they want to order themselves a copy. It depends- they used to be the #2 college radio station in the US, but they did a staff overhaul a year ago, and I don't know if they're into playing much more than acid-house any more. I was looking over their playlist in CMJ, and there might still be hope...they're really influential, and have a Concert Series, so I'm going to do my best. Happyvangelism. It's not just an adventure, it's a calling. :) *---------------------------------------------------------* | Meredith Tarr | | *** | | "I want to be a scholar, but I really can't be bothered | | Ooh just gimme it quick, gimme gimme gimme"- Kate Bush | | *** | | mtarr@eagle.wesleyan.edu | *---------------------------------------------------------* ======================================================================== Date: Tue, 17 Dec 91 13:43 CST From: vickie@chinet.chi.il.us (Vickie Ann Mapes) Subject: Today's your birthday friend.... i * i * i * i *************** ******************* ******** HAPPY ******** ********* BIRTHDAY ******** ************ Laura ************ *****************!***************** **************************************************************************** * New or changes made since last post Jeanne Schreiter Tue January 3 1967 Capricorn Greg Bossert Tue January 9 1962 OfTheTimes Terry Partis January 22 1933 Rocker * Stephen Thomas Fri February 4 1966 Aquarius Gene Sady Tue February 7 1956 Aquarius Doug Burks Tue February 14 1956 Blank kIrI Hargie Fri March 13 1970 Pisces Barry Wong Thu March 19 1970 Merlin Geoff Carre March 20 Pisces John Baker Tue March 24 1964 Berkeley Klaus Kluge Sun April 10 1960 Widder Steve VanDevender Sun April 10 1966 Racer * Art Liestman Fri April 10 1953 Repeat Harry Foster Sat April 21 1956 NiceGuy Angelos Kyrlidis Fri April 22 1966 Taurus Jeff Burka Thu April 24 1969 GoFlyAKite Mark Semich Thu May 6 1965 Yield Joe Dembski Wed May 7 1952 Rumple Steve Fagg Tue May 13 1958 Taurus Michele Young Thu May 21 1970 Taurmini Perttu Yli-Krekola Thu June 2 1966 Kaksoset Albert Philipsen Mon June 17 1968 Gemini David Lubkin Fri June 20 1958 OurLady Courtney Dallas Fri July 9 1971 Cancer Mitch Pravatiner Mon July 14 1952 Cancer David Koehler July 25 Leo * Tom Johnson Mon July 25 1966 Leo Rob Woiccak (woj) Sun July 28 1968 Leo John Relph Sat July 28 1962 Leo Bob Kollmeyer Wed July 28 1971 Leo Mark Carroll Fri July 29 1966 Hacker Kate Bush Wed July 30 1958 Leo Happy Rhodes Mon August 9 1965 Leo Vickie Mapes Wed August 15 1956 Giddy Martin Dougiamas Wed August 20 1969 Positive Dan Segel Tue August 31 1965 Virgo Jorn Barger Pez August 32 1953 Neon Meredith Tarr Wed September 1 1971 Virgo David Blank-Edelman Sat September 9 1967 Neon Chris Williams Tue September 20 1960 Neon 3-D Computer-generated Dan Riley Sun October 8 1961 Libra Brian Bloom Tue October 14 1969 Libra Dave Steiner Sat October 24 1959 Scorpio Jessica Dembski Wed October 29 1969 Scorpio Katie Dougiamas Mon November 4 1974 Scorpio Kevin Bartlett Fri November 21 1952 Scorpio Alan Ezust Fri November 21 1969 Homesick Claudia Spix Wed November 23 1960 Schuetze * Justin Bur Fri November 27 1964 Sagittarius Chip Lueck Thu December 5 1968 Sagittarius Laura Clifford Tue December 17 1957 Sagittarius *************************************************************************** If you'd like to be on the birthday list, please e-mail me with the information. BIG, BIG, BIG Welcomes to Henry Kilmer, John Wheeler and Valerie Nozick!! Welcome to Ecto, the fuzzy blue mailing list! Henry and Valerie, I did get your addresses. John, if you didn't get my e-mail answering the questions you had, just post them in Ecto. you'll ge answered. I'm having a bit of trouble with my system at the moment. This account is not my usual account. Usually I'm on Chinet and I'm either "vickie" or "katefans" but usually vickie@chinet.chi.il.us. But..... Chinet is officially fritzed-out. News is completely down, and mail is totally wacky. The sysop put a message up today saying "I no longer have control over e-mail or news. If you want to complain, don't." I guess we'll stick with Chinet and hope things are cleared up soon, but at least the problems were acknowledged. In-coming mail is slow, but still happening. Out-going mail seems to be dependant on tidal forces, star shifts and what Billy Joel had for lunch, so if you have e-mailed me (with an address, for instance) don't assume I've ignored you if you don't heard back from me. I posted a few things that haven't appeared at my site yet, but may have elsewhere. Just in case though, I wanted to say that the address list is still being added to. I have all but 18 Ectophiles. Some of the 18 H&K will surely have on file. btw, Kevin has NOT sent out whatever it is he's sending out, so please send me your address if you haven't done so. I don't have: G.Carre, L.Clifford, J.Relph, D.Steiner <--Kevin should have you all on file. Please send me your addresses anyway. Of the rest, I don't know who has ordered from AG and who hasn't. D.Becker, D.Koehler, G.Abbot, G.Wauford, K.Wooldridge, M.Hui, R.Somerstein, H.Sach, D.Torok, S.Casey, S.Macskassy, J.Flynn, M.Young and T.Madhyastha. HGP is in progress, get those tapes in the mail NOW. The deadline has passed, but I'm still waiting for many tapes. There are some packages at the post office. I'll go get them tomorrow and post a "received" update then. So far I have woj, Doug, Meredith, Vishal, Mitch and Court's tapes. Angelos, Perttu and Steve VanD are sending tapes later, and I'm using my own copies of the song to play. Steve wanted to send a message to Happy, so we came up with the idea of him calling and leaving a message on our answering machine. Anyone else who wants to can do this too. Our phone number is (312) 508-5283 (literally, 508-KATE) so feel free to call. We *always* answer the phone when we're here, in which case you could call right back and we'll turn on the answering machine. If the machine is already on, we're not home. If you get a busy signal, then we're on line, so try again. Our machine only allows a 30 second message, so be brief, to avoid being cut off. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!!! WELCOME TO AMERICA KLAUS!!!!! To those in school, taking finals...chin up and good luck! For those who are about finished and ready to go home for the holidays, see you when you get back, and Merry-whatever-you-perceive-it-to-be!! If anyone (besides Kiri) will be in the Chicago area over the holidays, please give us a call. I would like to have a Happy Holidays party while Kiri's back in town. We're aiming for Saturday, Dec. 28. If that's out-of-the-question, let me know. I might post something about it in gaffa, but this is a *Happy* party, so Ectophiles are first on the list. It's too bad we don't have tons of Happy videos and bootleg TV appearances and live performances, but that will all come in the future. Right?? Yeah!! For this one, we'll just listen to music, talk Happy and Ecto shop, and have a good time. We will almost certainly delve into other things too. I could keep people busy for hours just watching and listening to all the videos and music I have. Everything from Kate to Mary Coughlin to Mary Margaret O'Hara (keep on listening Jeff, she's wonderful!) to Julee Cruise to Diamanda Galas. We'll make this a regular Katemas-like thing and we can even call each other. Well, I don't know if we'll have the money to do much calling, but hey, if anybody wants to call here, they're more than welcome! (thats 312-508-5283 or 312-508-KATE). First I have to see if anyone can come to a party that day. If the next weekend is better for people, then it might get moved. As long as Kiri is still here before she goes back to school. Chicago and Midwest area people, let me know. I know this is short notice, but I just thought of it. (I'm definitely domestic and party-impared) Kiri, let me know when you have to go back to Potsdam. There have been so many great threads in Ecto. I just have to say again how much I enjoy reading what you all write. It's always an interesting pleasure to log on and read Ecto. Warm fuzzy blue indeed! The strangest thing just happened. I don't remember pushing any keys, but 2 paragraphs just disappeared on me. One was all about Ecto Cooler, so I'm not going to re-type it, I'll see if it appears when this appears in Ecto. Weird! Gee, maybe it's not Chinet at all! Ooooohhh, maybe it's me and my beasts, playful little moonbeam friends, following me around and affecting whatever system I'm on. There's no getting rid of them though, not that I'd want to, so they'll just have to learn how to behave! THAT'S where all those typos come from! HA! Now I know. Does anyone else love Danielle Dax's song "Inky Bloaters" as much as I do? It's so cool, about those little creatures who pop out when you're not looking and steals things you KNOW you just had, like that pencil or your missing coffee cup. Wonderful! It's on the compilation _Dark Adapted Eye_. Oh, Barry, I'm sure that Happy has tapes of herself from before she started recording at Cathedral, but we're never going to hear them. Seriously, I doubt she'd ever let any of them out, so hopes shouldn't be raised. We will probably hear some bonus tracks from the 1st4 sessions when they get released on CD, but anything earlier than Vol.I is hopeless. Believe me, I've asked :-) If she won't give any to me, she won't give them to anyone. Dream on, sorry. That's it, have a good time everyone. Martin here. Could someone please send me digest #85? I never got it, and I'm missing out on part of the complete course of Ecto shots. While I'm here, sorry about the lack of anything interesting lately from down here, but all the things I've been putting off all year "until the holidays" are hitting me all at once. I've made myself so busy lately that the only time I stop moving these days is to change direction. Vickie, expect the HGP tape to arrive on Friday. BTW, who's our Tasmanian ectophile? Come out and show yourself in all your fuzzy blue glory! Oh yeah, one more thing, ... about Kevin doing music for Sesame Street. AMAZING! I've always admired the music on Sesame Street... a girlfriend and I used to watch it whenever we could, over a glass of port. The songs they have are usually very witty, use pretty impressive studio musicians and most of the content goes right over the heads of little kids. Can anyone find out just what things he did / does on Sesame Street? I'd love to know. Anyhow, keep fuzzy, Martin [ Meredith's signature would fit wonderfully here ] ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 18 Dec 91 11:38:22 -0500 From: gb10@gte.com (Gregory Bossert) Subject: help?!?! *whew* just start a message to ecto, and a warm blue (and dare i say fuzzy) feeling settles down around me -- yep. much better :) aaaaaaanyway, here's the situation: not one but two (2!) people who do not themselves own any of Happy's music have asked me to get them _Warpaint_ so they can in turn give them to other Happyless people... and, there are in fact a couple of people i'd like to give the album to directly... mmmmmm, now, the problem is, i need to do this A.S.A.P., what with xmas just a week away and all... so, plan B is to send H&K lots of extra money for shipping and keep my fingers crossed... but i thought it might be nicer and even quicker to try plan A, in which some kindly ectopian goes into a local store that actually carries _Warpaint_ and buys me 3 CDs and a tape... now, i have *no* idea what the store situation is now (hmm, worthy thing to post anyway... Vickie?), nor if there are any conveniently placed ectopods who could assist me: i await further word... if i don't hear anything by tomorrow, i'll go ahead and call AG -- not to rush y'all or anything ;) many footahs in advance! -greg -- gb10@gte.com -- "i want to feel you in the dark, babe" -- HR ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 18 Dec 91 11:55:17 -0500 From: gb10@gte.com (Gregory Bossert) Subject: i'm talking about connections those cosmic vagabonds, Claudia and Klaus, have indeed been sighted on the little back road to fame and boston... sadly, they were sighted about half an hour later than expected, due to your humble footah being caught in traffic. nonetheless, we managed to meet up and spend a very pleasant evening (from my point of view, anyway :) talking about Happy, KaTe, music, food, and whether Happy will come to next years KaTemas party in boston.
